Let me see if I can answer your questions... I don't believe that any of the S/E cars had the WS-6 package. The package consisted of several things, including: Larger front and rear sway bars, higher rate springs, shocks and struts with different valving, 4 wheel disc brakes, better bushings, and probably some other things that I am forgetting. I know that the WS-6 sway bars and the higher rate springs weren't available on the V6 models, and I am pretty darn sure that the factory never put 4 wheel disc brakes on a 3rd gen with a V6. I could be wrong about the brakes being included in the package, so someone correct me on that if it is incorrect.

Not all TA's were WS-6 cars, so it is quite possible that the sway bars from the regular TA was used on the S/E. The struts and shocks would be easy to do as well. I believe that the regular firebirds in the early 80's had no rear sway bar, or at least a very small one, and the TA and S/E got them. They probably also had the TA wheel and tire package available on the S/E.

I stand completely corrected! I do still think that the other information is correct. I may have gotten that brakes idea from the second generation cars. I believe that the WS-6 cars in 1979 came with 4 wheel discs as part of that package. I know 1979 was the first year for the 4 wheel disc brakes on an F body. I guess that doesn't matter, though, since we are talking thirdgens.

It was apparently optional on Firebird SEs. Keep in mind that the brochure was printed before these cars actually hit the pavement. The brochure for a camaro in 1982 probably shows that you could get a 4-speed with the LU5 Crossfire motor. One was never made and there is no proof to show one actually exists.

Kizz has an 84 Firebird SE w/WS6 so they do exist but it was not a standard item

Yep, my buddy's old '91 Formula had rear drums, too. I think you needed a Z28 or TransAm to get the J65 (4 wheel disc) as standard equipment.

Actually, the Z28s and TA's came standard with drum brake rear ends. The GTA came standard with 4 wheel discs. The GTA also came standard with the 350, but a 305 was a credit option, so they do exist. I think that the disc brakes were an option on both Z28 and TA. Chevrolet tended to have fewer models and more options, while the pontiac cars had more models with different standard features and fewer options.

I don't know what W69 option is, but the L69 option was the carbureted 305 H.O. engine in 1984-1986.
