i couldn't even tell the paint was faded till you mentioned it. but anyways, it looks good.
hey you have the same amp as i do, nice. was it hard to wire the subwoofers so they didn't kill your battery? i have to get my amp and subs rewired because it kills my battery if its hooked up for too long.

PeNZ...I have the same car you do, except in balck....with beechwood interior. Question....what is that switch between your rear defroster and fog light switch?? I don't have one of those. Just a red light that someone had put in (rather nicely too) for an alarm system. Just curious as to what option that was....nice ride.

It looks like you have one of those California Firebirds with the ground effects and dash option.

the paint job should really add some life to the looks of that car. It's in great condition minus the paint, and like a good portion of the thirdgens you have the running away clear coat. My bird is getting painted the winter, and the ground fx will be added at the same time. Not to shabby, slap on some dupont, and it's show quality .

i've got that amp too. i hate it with a passion, i am getting a lightning audio down the road.
the amp doesnt drain the batttery at all, how did yours drain the battery?
switches go, left to right, fogs, rear defrost, hatch release
As for being a CA car, yes it is, built in Van Nuys
Firehawks, 215/65s on the front, 235/60s on the back

i'm not 100% but i believe the cupholders came out in either late 80's or 1990. My buddies artic white 1990 T/A had them in it. Gorgeous car, but the kid he sold it to wrapped it around a tree. kid was ok and all, think he just bought a beat up corvette now which he's trying to fix up, so he can wrap it around a tree also.

Man having cup holders would have been sweet.
You don't notice how much use they have till your in traffic, and need that extra hand.

i'm assuming that someone decided to route the wires straight to the battery instead of to the starter (so instead of the subs turning on when the car starts its on all the time, that is if the fuse is in the amp).....i think i just confused myself. well anyways the point is that the wiring is fuxored up
do paint jobs really cost 4K? i was thinking around 600...anywho i get what ya mean.
i thought those were cupholders! man that would be nice. someone spilled coffee in my car once...flew all over me. needless to say they never brought coffee or any drink in my car again. lol.

1000 would probably be a decent job, and 1500-1800 would probably cover the standard job.
As for 4K I expect the car should look show room, but on our V-6's I can't imagine doing it.

I'm planning on getting a 2k paint job. It won't have that glass like showroom finish, but it will be close to factory. Sometimes it really depends on what particular shop you go to and who does. Take Maaco for instance. Each shop is independently operated so the results will always vary. I have seen some great Maaco paint jobs for 700 and I have seen some really bad ones as well.
The only true way to be able to tell if you will get a good paint job by a body shop is see examples of their work and if you are lucky, ask one the customers how they liked their results and how much they payed for it.
Any paint job that cost 4K and up better be F...ING perfect. For my car I don't mind a few flaws here and there, since it is a daily driver and doesn't go to shows.

There are more of them in CA because of its strict air emissions.

I don't think so... I have that package, T/A GFX, full gauge package, regular tail lights, T/A wheels, Power almost everything (cept mirrors), Firebird wing.... I do wish I had cupholder... OH WAIT hehe, swapped in the 4th gen console!

Cupholders are great, I got 'em too!
PeNZ, about the switches...my foglight switch would ficker. They are easy to get out and change. I could get to the "bulb" itself, so I just ordered a used fog light switch from Hawk's Thirdgen Parts when I ordered a new headliner. Just pluged right in. Couldn't be easier. If you go to the junkyard though, or look at earlier birds, they came with different switches on the dash. You'll have to limit your search to 90 and 91 at least....don't know how things started to change after that....

that's not true on the honeycombs, my friends 1990 T/A came factory with those exact same rims he has on his bird. I do believe that there was a difference in size between the firebird and trans am rims, firebirds were 15x7. Trans Am's were 16x8. The honeycomb wheels were the GTA rims, if that's the ones you're talking about, they were black, gold, and silver i believe.

PeNZ....to get at the switches look underneath that plastic piece they are sticking out from (just above your heater controls). You will see two screws. unscrew them and that piece will drop down with the buttons in it. then just push the tabs aside and they pop out.
