I need power!!!!!!
Im only 15 years old, and I have recently got a 87 2.8L Camaro. My brother has a 65 mustang pullin about 320 hp. I need to a least put up a fight off the line against him. Anybody have any ideas of how to milk as much hp as I can out of my 2.8?
P.S. All stock enigne, but flowmaster exhaust. You have to understand that I already know that I wont beat him, just need to get the maxium hp out of my car.

a 1965 mustang with 320 hp will whoop you no matter what you're doing to you're 2.8L. Minus say a 200hp shot of nitrous oxide. The cars are light, weighing about 2000-2300lbs. you'll weigh in behind them at say, 3,100. I'd say, if you really want to be able to run w/ him and your state doesn't have emissions. Pull the 2.8L out and tranny, replace both with a carbed v8, say a 350, or better yet, say a 454. Then, race him.

I have this same problem, my bestest bud in MD has a 66 Mustard w/ a built 351W. I just plan on getting him off the line & stay in front of him. don't let him pass. otherwise it won't be a pretty sight

Beating a 320hp cars is pretty much out of the question.
It is possible, but unfessible. For the same money you could have a extremely built V-8 engine. I know this will not go over well, but many will aggree if you plan on racing then get a wrecked V-8 donor car. If you just want the look, and have a race once and a while then the 2.8 is the engine you need; great fuel economy; fairly snappy for its time, fun to work on and drive.
You can always have a few fun races with your friend. Think about it double the Hp, he is going to expect you too lose. So just race knowing the odds are against you, its still fun.
