Nothing beats a new owners manual, though...
Bought mine when I bought the GM service manual. I think I only paid $15 though (back in '94).

A haynes book in the glove box would be more useful.

I snagged me one of those "glove flap things" for the bird. I think it at least is an attempt at a glove box/bag
I snagged one of those flap things, too.
I also have the Camaro overhead console with flash light, too.
Why the owners manual.
IT's so HANDY for quick answers to questions I've been asking myself.
Does your fuse panel have a chart showing exactly what fuse for what function? It's in owners manual.
Chiltons is worthless unless I'm under hood & hands are greasy. It's so useless, I'm using the Camaro version for working on my Firebird!
Seriously, I find the car owner manuals very useful. Also helps me locate certain "options" I want in the wrecking yards for my car. Next score is the factory sales floor brochure for my Blazer & Firebird.
1985 was a big transition year for the automobile industry. These model year cars have lots of "old tech" mixed with just the beginning of the "future" of the direction of the auto industry.
Similar to 1974 model year cars compared to 1975 cars. That was one hugh leap into the future at that point.
1974, Last year of points under distb cap & true dual exhausts.
1975 First year of Cat Convertors & electronic distributors. AND Gas tank entry restrictions for the dispensing pump, that made sure you couldn't fill up with "regular leaded gas".
I'm chatting with one of the owners about the manual.
THANKS
I'll let ya know........

Yours must work right, then.
I have to have my pocket "fixed" (Velcro is dead).
I'll be thankful when I redo my interior.
One person is gonna send me more manual pics so I hope I score.
To me the few answers I get from the owners manual is quite handy for the expense.
Until they install computers in cars for us third gens to chat on the road!
Imagine uploading our computer readouts for comparing?
And comments/tips on the fly.

A few junkyard trips ago, I managed to snag a perfect set of door panels off an '86 Firebird 2.8/auto... the car was optioned out inside- same car I got the full gauges dash out of. Anyway, the door panels have the map pockets on 'em... this summer, those panels are going in!
I liked those door panels w/electric window option, cup holders for the doors.
Anyone use those & can report if "leak free"?
My map pocket thing is on dash passenger side.
After I get it to stick, I hope I don't hit a bump so it flops open again.
Gotta get that fixed, soon.

I finally grabbed one.

Less interior space to work with (including behind the dash)
Jerry Palmer design team did the F Body & Corvette.
Corvettes also minus a glove box!
Do Corvettes of the 80's have center console storage bins too?
My 74 has the storage bins behind the seats.

Even still, it would be nice to have just a small so I can at leat put my registration papers in. Those center console storage bins on the early 70's vettes were unusual too.
Shoulda tried a Corvette
53-55 door pockets for "stuff"
56-58, center part between seats, at shoulder
59-62 see above plus a "tray" infront of passenger, angled down with an "OH $HIT!" bar for people to hang on....
63-67 same as the 1974 of mine but slightly different.
Oh Plus a real glove box.
What did I use my glove box for in my 1966 Corvette?
I hid a cassette player in there.

I have many fond memories of my 1965 Impala Super Sport I had for a short bit. Still have manual, paperwork & Protect-O-Plate
That was some car.
A beauty.
Your buddy has it right, those Impala glove boxes are quite HUGH.
AND a center console, also!
Extra points for the "Stereo" joy button set up & the stacked guages.
He have a stick or auto
One of the final 409's?
Mine was the cruiser,
283/Powerslide but F-41 sport suspension SWAY BARS!
Can you imagine some of those 65 Chevy boats being built without sway bars upfront? True!

never really thought about it, but where do yall keep registration/proof of insurance? seem a bit much for the center console & keep sh*t in it.

The only thing in that map pocket on my dash is the insurance card. The registration stays in my wallet, with my license. My buddy tried cramming his cigarette pack in there once, I was like, "What the F are you doing???"
I've seen so many of those things busted in the junkyard because people tried shoving huge things in there, and the elastic snaps. I just wish I had one of those two-hole map pockets that the trans am's got; one pocket that opened to the side (like my '86 has), and a pocket "behind" that side pocket that opens upward.

I was complaining to one of my friends that I had no place to store my Illinois/Indiana map. I had been keeping it in my center console the whole time while the dash mounted map pocket is empty. As smart as I am, sometimes I just do retarded things.
Where's Captain obvious when you need him to tell you to put the map in the map pocket LOL.
I wonder why I never thought of keeping my registration in the door pockets or sunvisors - maybe its because I have never once been pulled over or asked to show it so it has been out of sight, out of mind.
