Well the 83 is in the shop awaiting the tranny rebuild. Guy said he'd have it done by Thursday so I'll probably be installing the tranny cooler on Saturday (while I simultaneously try to quit smoking!)

Good luck with both! Did your trans blow out, or you're just having it rebuilt to make it better? Think they'll fix that damn trans leak this time?
My new years resolution is to get back to the damn gym; when I was working out, the urge to smoke wasn't really there. Plus I always had energy, too... (sigh)

Nope, trans was still kicking all the way to the shop (turned out the cheapo replacement cable slipped way out of adjustment when I gave it a couple of pump shots to choke it in the morning). I do know there are some shift improver kits to fix some inherent problems in the valve body and I'd imagine he will put one in (he did every current update on our 93 Buick).
As for the leak -- after laying on my back and trying everything to keep it dry here's my conclusion...
Over the course of sitting from 2/99 until 4/02, the internal O-rings and seals shrank and/or dried up. Lucas treatment helped a bit but in order to properly seal this baby it needs to come apart and resealed. I'm confident that if it get's rebuilt I'll be able to power wash my driveway and undercarriage and never have to see the nasty mess again.
Wife wants me to start working out too. Hopefully it will diminish the urge for me as well.

I bet you're right... hell, my valve seals never leaked until I totalled the car in '96, and it sat for a month. After I brought it to life again, I've had to live with that blue smoke on startup. I could imagine what 3 years did to transmission seals!
