Putting 3.1 on engine stand
Putting 3.1 on engine stand
I am having issues putting my new 3.1 on an engine stand to work on it. The far left, while looking at the tranny side of the motor, the bolt hole has a dowel type thing in it and I cannot get it out. Is there a trick to getting it out? Would it be safe to use only 3 of the mounts? Any help? I can take pics if needed....

I'm gonna e-mail a pic of the 2.8 in the stand. I used all 4 arms, in a jacked -up looking config. I ha to use 7/16" I think, bolts, as neither AZ nor nappy had the exact metric ones.
edit: leave the dowels in. Their pressed in anyway & you really don't want to lose them if you somehow pry one loose

I had the 3.4 w/everrything on it, & the 2.8 has been on the stand now for about 4-5 mos. I'm using the $40 stand from AZ.

there are six holes in the block and only four arms on the stand. there are only two pegs, just stick the arms in the other two holes. those stands were made to take the abuse of even a beastly bbc, they will hold the measly 60* with the arms **** eyed very well, trust me, i did it for 2 months straight.
