just do all the mods to your 2.8 that i have done to mine. im prolly runnin mid to high 15's in the 1/4 mi right now. i know i can do better if i get a deeper set of gears out back and a higher stall converter and try to lighten the car up.

I ran a high 15, not low- and not offically but a promise it is very close to accurate in two runs of 15.8 and 15.9.

Where do I start with my suspension mods? I can telll you that the only thing that is stock is the front a-arms and k-member. Everything else is the best of everything including rare HMS aluminum strut mounts. Drive train will handle approx 600 hp (Even though we all know I don't come close to that in this car)

Motor is still in the "acquiring parts" stage then I'll go through it with entirely at one time rather than adding this then later adding that.

do all the suspension stuff you can think of, maybe peruse the suspension board and/or check out the Spohn Performance link in the banners up top.

as for doing the low 15's, how do you intend to drive the car? i not any/too much highway, gears are the way to go. If you want both gears & highway usage, cough up some $$$$$$$ and get a gearvendors unit.

Those Gear Vendors gear splitters are the coolest things I've ever heard....turn a 4 speed into an 8 speed, a 5 speed into a 10 speed....damn is that cool or what?

By the way firechicken, street/strip/highway I recommend 3.73, street/strip/minimal highway I'd go 4.11....and strip only, very little street, I'd think in the 4.3-4.5 range.. That's some nice and deep gearing....

Even with 4.11's I doubt it'd be that much of a hog though..my V8 has a 4.10 rear end and turns around 3600-3700 or so in final gear on the highway but the around-town cruising rpms and mileage isn't as bad as you'd think. Just gotta wait for it to get fixed and out of the shop for me to know what mileage I SHOULD be getting. It went in because of $1600 worth of problems and 9.5 miles per gallon...with **** gas at $1.75, I need all the mileage I can get!!

&
4:10s gears

That will get you what you want.

well i'm in high school, and i need to take the highway there, and i would still like to run 15's ,but i like the mpg. well i guess i'll have to flip a coin lol. well with the price of gas i have to just stick with low$$ mods. the first thing i'm gonna do is the CAI thats the cheapest, just gotta wait till it warms the f**k up this is the only bad thing about Canada

thanks for the info guys

No 2.8 needs 4.11s...3.42 is fine, 3.73 might be ok if you're running a much larger cam. The engines don't breathe well enough or turn high enough to take advantage of that much gear.

No offense, but when are you going to get some 1/4 mile times? The butt dyno often lies! Most cars that the owners think run 13s run 14s, etc. If you haven't run it, and don't have dyno slips, you're just guessing.

im not trying to show off about my car or anything. but with the right conditions it should run mid to high 15's. it is a very fast 2.8 there has been a lot of stuff done to it. it still gets whipped by a lot of cars though.

I wasn't knocking you or saying it couldn't run those times necessarily; I just meant that yours is one of (if not the) most modded 2.8s and I'd love to see actual 1/4 mile times or dyno numbers on it.
