3.4 maybe???

this question is more for ked85 but anybody can answer it.
i want to put a 3.4 in my 88 camaro. but here is the problem. should i change the engine only for 800$(can)with 43k or change everything(ecm, fuel rail etc) for 1500$(can) i got a feeling that my ecm will not last any longer cause my engine is gone. pse dont say if u have $$$$ go for it cause its not about the $$$ i just want to know if its worth it.(the extra money will go to fix the rust)
tks for info

What you do is just swap the underside of the engine. Normally a ecm will not go bad when an engine blows. Actually, never.

Plus you can get an ecm for from j/y fairly cheap.

I just say do the commen swap in the tech section, and youll be fine.

Help me help you.
WHy would you NEED to change the engine management system?
In the 3.4 swap upgrade, that is not necessary at all.
IF your car still runs, iI do suggest common sense approach.
Fix everything little thing ya can now, while the car still moves/drives.
WHY, Ya are problem solving before ya add to the questions, when I swapped my mills, then this happened....
Eliminate any varibles during current running mode, then ya further ahead of the game
BEST PART, 90-95% of ALL the stuff ya do, will swap right over to the other 3.4 mill.
For the cost ya say ya can grab the 3.4 mill, DO SO, ALSO.

Again, what I am saying is that by
upgrading to another mill (3.4 is this example) you have absolutly NO NEED TO CHANGE/SWAP THE ECM.

ONLY other upgrade ya do for a 3.4 mill under your current hood, is to add 3.4 injectors from almost any 3.4 powered vehicle.
Make sure ya keep/use the 3.4 balancer & the 3.4 flexplate.
Those are unique to the 3.4 mills and are necessary for the 3.4 mill to work correctly under your current car hood.
Have I helped well enough?
Good thoughts to ya, keep asking!

You Talking to ME!
Damn, this whatever last night.
I am NOT the most gifted poster here via computers.

Painted front end!!
I await a visit to go over the hill, to use a three tank air compressor and the DA sander I have.
Before I sand the front nose, I have to fix a thumbsized "yecko" on the replacement nose. Plus my sprained shoulder is almost fully healed (so I can actually use a sander!)
I just solved the alternator/ICM problem, been battling a crooked real estate sales person and should be buying my second home (for fixing & selling for profit in SoCal home GOLD MINE MARKET) next week.
Add my 2 1/2 year old, I had to babysit yesterday.

And today I'm trying to get my Blazer to start after the 3.4 swap. I got it to start, but wasn't smooth, so again I try today.

Hell, I'm thankful, as the Wife did a solo 50 mile round trip, by herself and came home smiling.
Last time she left in car, it died with her & my Son & she said she was almost hit.

I care about a different color front nose piece?

Add in that it'll be raining 3-4 days of this coming week. All parties back east, be prepared for more weather coming your way! I heard it was a little wet back east lately.....

My mission today is starting my Blazer! Daytona 500 minus many miles! was last week!

List of to do in the Firebird? I got an oil leak to fix in the Firebird (oil filter housing bolt to replace to hopefully solve leak). Then after leak fixed, replace all rubber brake lines & flush system and add DOT 4 fluid.
When I take car away from Wife, I'll finish the one body panel. I ALSO seek a passenger side front fender, as my WIFE decide to alter it while parking.

Yes, you keep current intake, and Engine managment system.

If it will make engine cheaper, tell them no a/c, no alt, no power steering, no alt/ac bracket.

Make sure you snag them fuel injectors from it, rest of the stuff you need is usually contained inside the engine.

In the whole scheme of things....
It takes the yard LABOR to remove stuff from engine, also.
Go look at what they offer ya. The whole package. BRING CASH
Drive home. SELL WHAT YA DON'T NEED ON EBAY.
This last 3.4 swap mill (I just got it running, too!), I was very glad to take the Alternator & the power steering pump.
I just used the 1995 power steering pump on my 85 Blazer & I have lots of left over parts to use or sell one day.
Definetly go with cash & expect to pay a fair penny.
All in your favor.
Have you read my 2.8->3.4 Long Block Swap Boogie?
Do so & that will help you with this mission, also.
Good thoughts!
