Leaky head gasket?
Leaky head gasket?
It started out with the oil pressure gauge lying at zero for a day or so, then an EGR failure code, finally it looks like what smoke is coming from the engine. I popped the hood and it appears that it's smoking from the head, could a bad gasket make it smoke from the engine? I haven't seen any white smoke from the tail pipe yet and also, there is some black sludge in the radiator resevoir but it's been there since I got the car. It seems that everything is happening all at once. EGR is probably coming off with a resistor to keep the code from throwing, I thought the low oil pressure was a bad sending unit but there is still pressure reading when first started, going into the shop tommorow morning but I'd like to be able to give them an idea and hope the dealership is competent. The point of this rambling post, could a bad head gasket produce smoke from the head itself even without smoke from the tail pipe? Also what does old engine oil in the coolant look like. Thanks for all the help everyone,
David

it sounds to me like the YF Code...
this code can appear alot on these cars, it can result in a real pain in the butt, and prob. alot of money...this "YF Code" means...
"Your Fukt"
oil in the water looks like choclate milk.
yes it is possible for smoke to come from there. i have seen headgaskets blown where no smoke came out the exhaust. you might have a cracked head....
does it over heat? has it ever overheated?
if so...that could be a problem.
sorry man.
last sig.
might wanna try a proven local shop. sometimes the local guys are looking for the work, and want to do a good job and give you a good price because they are looking for business
look into the shop tho, some of them can be real thieves

That's the wierdest thing, it's always run cool even a little cooler than what I think it should. The engine runs perfectly besides the smoke. It looks like there's some oil on the driver side exhaust manifold so it might be leaking from the pressure sending unit which is right above it. I'll look into some shops but I have to get it done in the next two days because we're leaving for Dallas wednesday. I think you're right... code YF, lol I need the laugh after spending the day messing with this thing. I did get some kick *** pictures of it though.
