throttle body bypass

Hey guys. I did the throttle body bypass mod on my car yesterday and I have got to tell you, I noticed a big difference in throttle responce. When I slammed on the gas from a standing start there was almost no hesitation at all. Whereas before there was a lot of hesitation. I have heard a lot of people on here saying that the throttle body bypass is not such a good mod to do, but I think that it was GREAT!!!! I just figured that I would let you guys know how it did.

This morning when I drove my car it was fairly cold out and I think that since the air was not being warmed up, I got a better charge and therefore I was getting better power and response. Good luck with yours.

It's been hotly debated whether or not this really works for power...never tried it personally..but here:

bes...a better test is with it fairly warm out and the engine completely warm. Basically, in your normal driving environment. Colder air makes a HUGE difference since the intake charge is much colder, it's much denser as well. Throttle response goes up, acceleration goes up.

Edit: Damn you Dale, beat me to it!

If nothing else, it cleans up some of the clutter under there, and eliminates a little unneeded weight. I don't see any thing about it that could hurt performance... that's why I did it!

Hey, what ever floats your boat, I don't want to argue.

The air is just going to pick up the heat when it passes thru the intake manifold because all the water passages are going past up to the thermostat back to the radiator anyway. The reason GM has the throttle body heated is so that it doesn't freeze up the IAC and vacum lines in cold climates.

Well, I don't live in a cold climate so I guess that doesn't apply to me. It has been warm here the last couple of days NIXON, but my car is out of commision for a while. But, when I get it put back togethter I will tell you how it feels.

Lucky.. Florida weather has been so messed up. Hot, cold, dry, raining.. Every day it's a new f*cking season here!! It was wicked hot today without much humidity. Wonder if it'll rain tomorrow.. Hopefully it will AFTER I get to work. I have to install my new Blaster coil and charge my freon and take her out for a spin to see how it goes....I dont wanna try in the rain!

Bright and hot here today.... I'll have to see if I can't get my dad to back out of the garage and let me use it. Nothing worse than working under that sun..it's a killer.

yes it was great when it was a GREAT mod when it was my only throttle mod, i got used to when i could jump the tree, then i added my msd and it all changed, i got so much throttle response off the line now that i sit there a spin for a couple seconds, when i was installin my DZ springs i compared tyres and was like OMG there aint no tread on this here tire so i swapped the one with tread with the one with our tread and now my car handles so differently cuz when i et it to lose the rear end that left tire has no tread so it slides to!

but my freind could feel the diff in response back when i did it, it cost me like 4.25$ for al the parts from pepboys

I've had it bypassed since '97, and living in NJ, we get some cold winters. Never had the TB freeze up. Engine heat conducted through the steel block/manifold should prevent that.

I did a TB Bypass....added RAM AIR boxes....installed a 52MM BBK/Edelbrock TB....and installed a new Throttle Cable. With everything combinded...I noticed a huge difference....throttle response..is soooooooooooo much better. It really surprised me.....
