4.3 v6?????

ok i hear all the time about puttin a 3.4 in, but what about a 4.3, my dads astro workvan has one and it seems quite powerful...will it go in our cars or is it more work and less gain? im sure theres a reason people dont put those in...i find them more common in junkyards than 3.4s..give me some feedback guys

the 2.8-3.4 are on a 60* axis. the 3.8-4.3 and all small block chevys are on a 90* axis. you would have to pull the tranny and put a v8 tranny in it. there are some peopl that have done it, not sure if they frequent these boards though. after it's all said and done though, you could have put a v8 in the car. the 3.4 is a great little v6 though making 200ftlbs off idle. i would suggest that swap to anyone wanting more power out of their 60*

99% of everything on your current mill, swaps easily over to a 3.4, an enlarged 60* mill.
It's a very common sense swap & it works nearly perfect for most here whom has spent the time dollars & effort.
It's a very simple yet detailed swap.
YA GOTTA REALLY LOVE YOUR CAR to put out the effort.

Which is why they kick so much ***. I hear they're nearly indestructible. Me and a few friends found an Astro...chopped the top off, yanked the seats out, hacked the doors off, and the instrument panel and dash...and the plastic piece covering the back of the engine and distributor inside the cab. It rocked. First gear was the only operating gear..every other gear was toast. So we cut donuts at the top end in 1st gear...sustained 5000-6000+ rpms the whole time. It blew BOTH valve cover gaskets out..apparently they were doubled up. Kept running. We busted the radiator open with a "javelin"...aka rebar. Kept running. Started like nothing was wrong. Still runs to this day. It's legendary.

An Astro? What the f*ck would you need AWD for in an Astro? Seen anyone go hill climbing or mudding in one?? I guess for snow and ice and stuff up north but...***...that's hilarious!

hey.. AWD makes any car that much cooler... look at a subaru... if they were FWD would anyone wana buy that death box? HELLLS NO cause it has AWD, its that much cooler. Do not knock the AWD van. The Town & Country has a version that is AWD also. My mom had that.. that was a sweeet van to drive.

Subaru...death box???

But the AWD definitely adds to the cool factor of anything...but I just can't imagine a van with AWD. Just seems 'off' to me. But MAN do I love AWD cars at the dragstrip. Talk about a hook. They rip *** out of the hole.

True AWD & body on frame vehicles are excellent for hauling boats and launching them.
I can't believe in my lifetime people are excited about a Subaru.

I don't get excited about Subarus. Except the WRX. That's the exception..and for good reason! I saw one at the drag strip when I ran. I overheard him. "14.7! Bone stock! *** I love this thing!" I believe is what he said. Something like that...the time might be off by a tenth or two, my memory is bad.

I understand it may go fast.
I still remember waiting for the School bus & this dorkiest looking Japanese thing dropped off a girl for the bus.
The way it sounded as it drove away.
That Subaru white station wagon thing looked so embarassing to own.
The car looked so hokey and sad, I can't imagine any desire for a Subaru.
They still have the dorkiest looking stylists left over from the school of Japanese Design of 1950's-1960's.
My opinion

They're getting better by the year I think... Arent the prettiest looking cars, but with each subsequent revision, they look better.

So were the Plymouth car lines & Dodge car lines of 1961-1964.
Some the butt ugliest cars ever designed!
Best thing about the Subaru?
The Girls at the Japanese auto shows look great!

Oh yes they do....... Why is it all the import women are young and gorgeous and the domestic women I see in posters are 45 years old, past their prime, and in outdated bikinis? It's just not fair....
