Help with Non-A/C, no smog pump belt routing on a 2.8L

Hey all, were trying to bypass the A/C on Firebirdchk24's car because the bearings are bad on the pump. However, none of the stock size belts seem to fit. They are either too long, or too short to fit. We got a belt thats an inbetween size and it does indeed get tight, however it rubs against itself with the way its routed.

We have routed it the correct way according to the panel over the radiator. Here's a pic of where its rubbing.

Sorry, my server is down, I'll attach it in the following post.

well it looks like the most logical thing to do is get a working used compressor have Tim help me recharge it so it will work since he has the tools and that means live with the noise for awhile and return the belt tomorrow afternoon...so i'll be squealing down the road for awhile but oh well at least it runs

I think you and I need to put together a list of all the things that need to be fixed on all of our cars combined and just do it in one weekend. ^_^

sounds like a plan...save up money and get the parts so we can afford the one weekend to fix our cars. If only it was that simple

You might want to try one of these- its an A/C Delete pulley that is for the TPI Camaros. Part# 10055890 from any GM dealer, cost aprox $40. It will work on our cars, we run the same Harrison A/C compressors as the V8's.

Well, 9d1burd, firebirdchk24, and I talked and we're just going to get a new compressor and charger her a/c system. It'll most likely be cheaper that way.

I'd recharge my A/C system, but I don't have the cooland bypass valve, and my heater core isn't even hooked up. Why is it called a heater core if it cools and heats...? j/k, don't answer that.

I have never seen that pulley before, thanks for the tip. I assume that means your stock length belt is still useable?

Yeah, i think we convinced her that a new compressor is the way to go, Ac is always nice to have.
