Can Mine handle Nitrous

ok im thinking about adding a small shot of nitrous to my car and am wondering if it will be able to handle it. i have a 92 camaro 3.1 with almost 110,000 on it. still runs very strong and i take very good care of it. i have done a few mods to it so its not stock by any means. let me know what you all think and if you know of some good setups to use. thanks
Steve

You should be able to run a dry nitrous kit meant for a Mustang 5.0 just fine. I think your car should handle a 50-75 hp shot.

Yes, take your chip out and make sure the timing is 10 degrees. I wouldn't risk advancing it past stock. Chips advance your timing on their own...which could lead to detonation when you hit the nitrous. That'd be BAAAADDD.... I think a normal good sized shot for an F-Body is like 50....that's a very safe shot....but if you wanna go a little wild (which I think you do, seeing your modifications), I'd go for a 75 shot. But no more than 75... I don't think the motors would hold up very well to a bigger shot than that considering the 75 shot is about a 50% horsepower increase on a mildly modified 3.1....

ALSO, make sure your fuel delivery system is good!!! Check your fuel pressure and make sure you've got a good fuel filter in. Any leaning out with the nitrous can blow your motor because nitrous PILES the O2 in....you need more fuel than normal to keep from detonating. That's why dry nitrous kits come with computer stuff for them....to get the computer to richen the mixture up when you hit it. Wet kits come with fuel already added to the mixture...which is why they're more dangerous. But they build the nitrous bottles so solid, I doubt there's any risk. Dry kits will not burn/explode on their own to my knowledge....so they're generally safer.

The 2.8/3.1 kit from NOS also works...

yeah i would like to go a little wild...if it could handle it i would get the biggest shot possible, but seeing as i only have a little ole v6 im gonna behave myself and probably only run 50, maybe 75 if im feeling frisky ha. after this mod im done for awhile...the custom headers and nos definitly draining the cash flow. out of all the ones you guys listed which would you recomend? and if you have them handy the part numbers in summit or any other supplier would be greatly appreciated, or website. im planning on doing this pretty soon i think...just gotta check with my installer and see if he thinks we can get it done in his garage. be nice to go roast some **** burners around town....cant stand those freaking things....thanks for all the help guys, im learning a heck of a lot off this site
