roughly around 350lbs complete and dry. V8's are roughly 550lbs.

Edit: also the 60*v6's are shorter so the weight sits more rearward in the car. An aluminum V8 block and heads motor is 400 or maybe slightly less but has its weight distrubuted still more forward because of its length. I only added his if your curiosity was pertaining to the weight bias of the car with a V6 as compared to and aluminum LS1 motor.

Great observation. I was considering using V6 springs for the front. The weight loss is causing my front end to pitch up. If I use lowering springs I may have the issue of the rear being too high. Then it hit me that V6 springs might be a good compromise. Any further thoughts?

If you want roughly stock height of the car then use a aprox 1" lowering sport spring for a V8. I would not suggest you use a V6 spring- handling will suffer.

I run springs heavier than the V8 guys use in my little V6 and have trimed them to fit my ride heght. Rides very well for considering how stiff I set this car up- The wife and daugther use this car for a daily driver and love it. (note: stock front Iroc V8 springs are aprox 600-650lbs spring rate- I run 800lb springs up front)

When I get around to rebuilding a 2.8, I plan to drag the block on boards down the basement steps. Should work out. When I swapped my trans (700r4), that was fun to pick up! Of course, as I was holding the trans in my arms, none of my neighbors were out to see, and nobody drove by. Figures. And that trans suddenly got very heavy very quickly when I was laying on my back trying to mate the bellhousings together from underneath the car!

It looks like I will have to take that route.

Any thoughts for a solution on the back? Is there a solution that would keep the stock height and give me a firmer spring rate?
