Why is she bogging down and stalling?

Hey guys i got some problems with my car ... she keeps stalling, i could be driving and all of a sudden she'll bog then stall then the check engine light goes on but i cant get a code because as soon as i turn the key off it goes off until she stalls again.

Heres what ive change w/ no help
All the intake plenum gaskets
valve cover gaskets
did an oil change
changed the oil filter
changed spark plugs
and tryed that fuel injector cleaner twice

i think i may have gotten a piece of plastic in the intake tube that may have been sucked into the throttle body i dunno. And my air filter is really bad and needs changing but that cant stall it that bad can it?

Help.. 85 2.8 MPFI

hopefully that's ur only culprit, but as i understand a failing altenator will drain the battery...so i'm not to sure, especially if it starts right back up....keep us posted if ur problems continue, by the way, the only reason u were getting a code when the car stalled is because the engine is dead and the car is in the on position...same thing you'll get when u first go to start the car, so that's normal.

Look in the Tech Articles for pulling your code... you need to ground the diagnostic terminal of the ALDL connection, and then put your key in 'run' and the codes will blink to you.

$110 later she still stalls on me but the battery doesnt drain itslef. It acts like all fuel stops going to the engine for a second and then it dies. really annoying especially stalling while moving in traffic

pulled the code .. its a 34 MAF sensor

I pulled the little ****er out and it looked new and had a remanufactured sticker on it. Ahh well anyone know where to get one nice and cheap

ahh .. searching the boards i found someone else had the same problme and it was their pcv valve .. i remeber breaking and jerryrigging that back together two weekends or so ago. Im gonna replace it to check to see if thats it

I feel ya man, mine does the same thing, but it'll only do it when i'm stopped and in gear, it'll idle allright, then it'll like hiccup and throw a code 34. I also get a code 44 sometimes. And I get really crappy mileage. if you figure it out, let me know.

Just go to the junkyard and try one out. Get a later model one, or if the dash is still in, look for a lower mileage one. Those are your surest bets for a good maf. You have to have one from a V6, if I'm not mistaken - different type MAF

Do you hear any hissing noises from the engine with it running?

you can use the gm book method to test mafs, with the engine running, tap the MAF with a wrench in a couple places and see if you engine sputters.

if so than it's definitely the sensor

Diagnosis already says it's the MAF (ran fine while MAF unplugged); when you get a junkyard one, check a few things:

1) electrical contacts for harness plug aren't corroded or cracked
2) housing of MAF isn't cracked
3) orange frequency film (visible by looking inside MAF tube) should be completely flat- no wrinkles, no bends, no curves, nothing- perfectly FLAT!

You could also buy a rebuilt MAF, just make sure you spend the extra $20 or whatever to get the one with the lifetime warranty. I did that; I've been running on mine since '97!

sounds like the same problem i had awhile ago, took awhile for me to figure this one out, i replaced every sensor that had to do with my ECS, even my computer, also tried plugs, wires, cap rotor, fuel filter, in the end it turned out to be a bad injector.......
try checking youre fuel pressure first to make sure the fuels even making it that far

MAF = mass airflow sensor. Follow the intake from the throttle body... the MAF is an inline sensor a few inches long with a wires coming out .
