Engine tuning

Hey guys, I just finished installing a new engine with a 2030 cam 1.52 roller tip rockers and a cloyes chain.
The engine has approx 30k on it.
There is a ticking sound that I can hear, and my cousin can hear, but my step dad who was a front end specialist says isn't rods, rockers, or anything else too serious.

All that aside the
minor ticking is there, and it seems loudest in the fuel rail
I can't hear a cylinder miss in the exhaust or up front
the timing is dead on
I have a slight rpm drop, not very often, but its there
The pulley to balancer bolts only go in half way
The cam is probably still breaking in

Any comments/questions/concerns/suggestions/thoughts/ponderings/

your ticking could be injectors. i know a few vehicles that were notorious for loud injectors (dodge caravan 3.3L). thats a possibility.

dave's right , if you're hearing the sound from under ur intake plenum and from what appears to be the fuel rail then ur ticking noise is ur injectors. If it was from valve covers we mightthink rocker arms. Was this noise thre before u did the cam setup, or do you not remember it, or do you simply pay more attnetion to strange noises after you do anytype of mechanical work on something (they never sound right after they're done do they're finished do they?) But my guess is in injectors also, don't think it's a bad sound , although it could also be a stuck or leaky injector, but i doubt it. More likely than not, it's just the noise they make.

Thanks, I think the third option is the one I'll take (pay more attention to every noise after workin on it) better not be a stuck or leaking injector...Rich from Cruzin performance will hear about it

K guys, I think I may have a problem. With all the goodies that are in there, I think I should have a bit more torque than i do now. I was expecting to be able to at least get them to chirp when I got on it from a stop. Was I exptecting too much, or do I have a problem
Theres also probably 100 lbs give or take from subs amp and sub box in back, not to mention the donut and jack and stuff

subs, boxes, and music stuff will slow any car down. But from what i've heard (not what i've experienced ... never done a 2030 swap) that cam is made to give a lil' more upper RPM umph. But the expense of that added HP/TQ in the higher RPM's is a slower lower end. So you lose down low, but gain up high, and that's where it'll really come in hand while racing and whatnot, especially cause u'll be staying in those upper RPM's after ur 1-2 shift.

Yeah, I noticed it a lot up high, and on the freeway, it was more ready to keep going faster, gotta get the junk outta the trunk I guess

For the ticking; make sure it's not an exhaust leak. You can use an old scrap of heater hose as a stethescope, just don't get it (or you or your clothing) caught in the motor!!!!!

I've just narrowed my own ticking to injectors as well. It's kind of loud, I can hear it outside the car with the hood closed. From behind the doors on the outside, or inside the car I can't hear it anymore. Is that loud of ticking a problem, or do accell 24# injectors always make lots of noise?

I figured it was the ijnector because I could hear the ticking loudest right by the plenum, and a screwdriver to the injector, and the other to the ear let me hear a ticking that was perfectly in sync with the loud ticking.

What about the valves "knocking" against the head, when they closed?
