v6 ignigiton timing

v6 ignigiton timing

just a quick question. can one of you tell me real quick what the proper timing degree is for the 3.1? its not listed in my haynes. (damn ripoff) i set it to about 8* advanced and it seems to work well. thanks

I believe its either 12 or 10 degrees above TDC. Im leaning towards 12 but my memory is not what it used to be .

10 degrees btdc with engine warm.

The GM Shop Manual from http://www.helminc.com doesn't have the timing in it, either. It says to check the sticker under the hood. Of course, my sticker disappeared not one, but two hoods ago...

Stock is 10 (as stated). I'm running 12.

I tried running it at 12 but it ran slower especially on hills, it also sucked up alot of gas. Set it back to 10 now it runs better.
