Need your opinions (about the Turbo)

I need your guy's opinions... torn between doing it one way, and missing out on Dyno Day (Well, vortex can bring the stang, since I already paid), or praying the whole way it stays together...

It ain't worth it. Besides, I don't know about most people here, but I lack respect for unreliable horsepower (hence why I scoff at nitrous) .. Build her so those ponies will be there any time you ask for 'em..

If you are having problems with one lifter, chances are that the others are weak also, or the engine is having oiling flow problems.

Like many others on the board I am curious to see the results, but pushing a dyno run on a weakened engine could result in a blown engine.

Theres just no point in getting false dyno numbers and risking killing ur engine

If something major is wrong like this, the engine won't last very long if you give it a quick fix. I say do it right so you'll enjoy your turbo for many days to come.

it can wait. the dyno will be there anytime you want to go. you dont want to take a chance at doing some serious damage to it. and your not going to get the results you really want as is.

I'm tossed between the two.

I would like to see turbo results w/o special heads, etc.

However, if the current heads are screwed, its not going to be running right anyway.

Yeah... so far it seems to be the better judgement winning out. Especially now... Vortex yanked the distributor, and found metal shavings on it... I'm thinking possibly from the rearmost lobe wiping out.

If so, cam = shot. That means now, the heads and intake are going to get redone, polished, and this cam put into it -

Melling MTC - 5 (pn CL-MTC-5 for $114 @ AutoZone)

Duration:
204º/214º @.050"

Lift:
Intake - .420"
Exhaust - .443"

Lobe Seperation Angle:
107º on the intake side
117º on the exhaust side.

That cam, and lifters, for $115? I'm all over it.

It also means, the 16g wheel is going into the turbo, and I'm porting the housing. I MAY go ahead and pull that O2 housing from it, and eliminate the 's' in the exhaust flow it's creating....

I say screw the dyno day too because you can have your car dynod at any time. Bhp numbers from your turbod' 2.8l would be nice to hear, but I think you have more important things to do other than the dyno.

don't push an engine with a weakened valvetrain, you'll regret it (I speak from experience)
