Doward here...

External wastegate... oil and water cooled... looks good.

I used 3/8" steel for my own flanges.

Wish the digi cam worked, I just finished assembling the 16g. Looks all new

Did you use a drillpress? and if so, how many HP?

Der... uhm.. the center holes were cut with a drill press.. 2 horse, I think.. the failure point was the hole saw vs the chuck, not the press... whenever the saw stuck, it'd just spin in the chuck.. the press never missed a beat.. I think we didn't torque it rather intentionally to save the saw. Everything else was done on a rather large Enco mill/drill.. big.. well, small in the way of mills.. but yeah.. no clue on power output.. alot?...

Lots of WD-40 (doubt it was even half a can, really) and a few hours, and one set of shiny flanges. Only part I wasn't allowed to mess with was the facing job.. something about 4 $5 carbide tips on the facing bit made dad think twice about letting me practice with steel

I've got the turbo hanging by bailing wire in the car now.. just gotta figure out exactly how the hell I'm going to squeeze everything in there.. looks like a possibility of an AC delete in the works.

Doward, if you get your camera working, could ya snap me a few pics of your serpentine setup? Might end up converting for belt clearance.

NO AC DELETE!!!

My number 1 priority was to be fast, in style, WITH ACCESSORIES!

A/C being number one, since it's usually the first to go. Search on here, I believe I showed a couple pics when I pulled my smog pump.

Yeah, I want to keep my AC as well, but there's a line I'm worried about... oh well, we'll see. At any rate, if I edit the original post and remove the pics of the turbo, yes, it was intentional, and means that turbo is gone.. got a line on something else.. with a wastegate! MUAHAHA!

As you wish, Doward . Straight from the passenger side of a 7M-GTE, I introduce to you....



Behold.. I no longer need a wastegate.. or alot of the plumbing I needed.. What I do need, though, is a new set of flanges.. and with the help of a local guy with a plasma cutter, I think I'm stepping up to 3/8"



And I can flow more exhaust! Woo!



Plus, with the angle of that turndown pipe, I'll clear the frame.. otherwise, she lines up just like I wanted her to in the first place. Someone loves me.

Came with ALL hardware.. coolant lines, oil inlet, oil drain, turn down, wastegate line (which if you'll note routes straight from the compressor outlet into the gate port... I love toyota.. she needs a little cleaning, but the exhaust side has *no* oil in it.. just carbon buildup. And it's the stock gate, so it probably hasn't seen much in the way of heavy duty action.. One broken stud on the turn down. Oh well. Looks like the old O2 flange (maybe?) on the turn down is the same size as our EGR flange.. and it'll be facing up, too.. this is so stupidly perfect... heh. And yes, the compressor inlet dwarfs the K26. I'm gonna have fun here. Gotta run.

Yeah, but then I wouldn't have an excuse to crawl out from under the car to take a break every 30 minutes

Question on TB coolant flow.. is that stuff actually routed in such a way that there's a good positive flow, or would it be best to tap one line off the TB and just cap the other TB line and head the turbo water outlet to the thermostat housing or water pump inlet or something?

Ideas?

You CAN NOT use the TB coolant as the SOLE provider of water for your turbo.

Personally, I had one side go in from the TB coolant flow, cap the other side of the TB coolant, and run the other side of the coolant from the turbo right to the metal pipe the heater actuater valve was on. Yes, I no longer have heat, but hey - All I need is a T, and it's back in business.

Now you've got a turbo that will actually make some power. Keep in mind, though, that the CT26 is STILL a bit small on a 3.0L engine. Don't go over 14psi with that turbo!

Eh.. that's what I figured. Winter's rolling in, so I need heat..

Water pump inlet, thermostat housing, or T the heater return line? This is an unvalved heater setup, btw..

And Doward, if I ever become truly concerned about the CT26 not being big enough...
