i'm assuming that is why the other thread got locked but i do need a little help. here is a picture of the way i spliced the wires (as far as i can tell, just like msd tells you to) but i must be missing something.

Couldn't tell you... there should be a tach reference signal (on my '77 'bird, it was the ground side of the coil, I believe) that you should hook up. It IS the tach that's giving you a problem, right?

well, glancing at this and glancing at my haynes manual, the white wire on the gray plug *used* to be your tach lead.. hence its disfunction.. MSD's diagram doesn't seem to have any provision for this...
I'd try running a jumper between the white 6A output wire and the white wire that used to go to the gray connector... but that's just what I'd try. Never hooked up an aftermarket ignition box..
And Mr_Dude, thanks for having more motivation to do a quick photoshop on the image than I did.. never ceases to amaze me how much information a jpeg can contain

i can try jumping that wire that you mentioned techsmurf but i did already try unhooking it (to see if it was just a tach lead) and it killed the motor must be a ground too or something.

I think your distributor is relying on that ground, now.. however, I think you need to tee it off to the white wire that used to run to the gray connector.. not sure if the tee would be good enough though.
At any rate.. I'm pretty sure that poor abandoned cut white wire is your old tach lead.. that should help you out by leaps and bounds.

thanks for the pictures, maybe i can figure it now.
side note: i just got back from a little "car show", boy did the little v6 surprise some people! the supercharged R/T's 33 ft tire tracks didn't look as empressive as they did before i did it too.

unfortunately my tires don't make much smoke but they need replced so i'll see if i can get some burnout pics before i change them.
edit: if you're not believing me, ask Doward, he's riding in it. if you just want to see some pics, i'll try to get some at some point...don't know exactly when it'll be though.
