Beretta better hp/tq numbers...

The '91 3.1L Chevy Beretta puts out 160hp/185tq (9.6 compression ratio). How come Chevy screwed us with the low v6 Camaro numbers and low compression numbers??!!!!!

Does anyone make superchargers for our cars!?

Factory aluminum heads, in my opinion, are a big no-no anyways. They die too quick...

Still though...Chevy screwed the Camaros over there.

Hi

Yeah um, I'm new on here but I would tell you If you want some extra power, pull those heads, shave the decks down a bit have some bigger valves put in (have the seats re-cut), get a good three angle valve job and have some one portand polish them for you at a reputable perf. shop. Polly cost you in the neighborhood of 700 bux.

And then kick yourself for not using the $700 to buy a V8. Or a better six.

You'd do better to kick yourself after milling the heads way down, and noticing the intake won't line up anymore - the upper side of the heads is actually part of the base manifold. You'd have to be SUPER careful to be sure everything lined up correctly still!

I'm talking within Given tolerance, lets not go haywire. The purpose of decking them is in the ways of a "might as well" Basis. If you pull the heads to do a porting job, you wouldn't put them back on "AS IS", you replace the gaskets, deck the heads, remove carbon, replace the valve guides, valve seals, check the valves (maybe replace any suspicious ones!), Check spring compression, etc. Small percentages of people assume that a porting job just involves removing the heads and porting them... I'm just being **** I suppose (And, I don't reckon 700$ would get you anywhere near swapping a 6 for an eight, I know quite a few people who tried this... 4000-6000 dollars later they all had a decently running v8...for that kind of cash you could almost get a used Vette...)

I never said a ready-to-run V8...

Hey, I'm looking for a small V6 car (my 3rd V6).

Alternatives in local market are:

1.- Beretta GT 1989,

vs.

2.- Pontiac Grand Prix 1988.

What do you guys recommends?..

Any comments will be appreciated.

Well as far as the Grand Prix goes...check this page:

Haven't heard anything bad about the Berettas yet. And they'll typically outrun a comparably equipped Camaro.
