If the solenoid clicks over and nothing happens:

Low battery amps (hook up DMM to battery while cranking.. check voltage drop.. <10v bad, though a bad starter can show this too, as well as excessive attempts to get it started)
Bad connection to battery (a decent amount of corrosion will make it very hard to start.. make sure terminals are clean. hook up DMM to a positive lead in car, if voltage drops to near-zero during a cranking attempt and recovers back to 12v, this is likely)
Bad connection at starter (unlikely, but check)
Hydrolocked motor (fluid in cylinders *or* too much oil in crankcase)
Hosed starter

if you have cables try to jump it because sometimes the higher amperage of a running system will overcome the voltage drop wherever it is, worth a try though to get it going and get you home

Try jump starting it with a bigger car. This time of year battries crap out. Usualy you get a dead cell. It will seam fine until the batt get so low then it will never regain or recharge.

This box fits almost perfectly in the rear storage compartment. I manage to carry one under my 12"x2 speaker enclosure. Can hold 90% of the tools required to completely dismantle your car, and comes with a very friendly price tag.

Perhaps her dad could sit in the car while you and your girl push? Maybe a neighbor would be willing to help push?

Jump start from a car with a beefy charging system is also a good idea if it is indeed the battery.
