Swap out 2.8L 6, swap in 2.8L 4

Have you guys seen the new GMC Canyon engine? I-4, 2.8L, 175hp @ 5600 RPM, and 185 lb-ft torque @ 2800 RPM. Can't wait till somebody cracks up a new Canyon so I can put this baby in.

There's an I-4 and an I-5. I believe the I-4 option is new.

Would u really want to drop in a 4banger of a 3.4 with similar numbers, what aobut doing the 3.4 $350-550, then some intake and head work with cam $750-1400, with the head work i can see 230HP easy on the 3.4, then this way there was no hassle with making something fit, jsut replaced and made more efficent

seems like a lot of extra work, for some minimal gains to me...Ls1 swap (lots of work, lots of power) .... 3.4 swap ( not much work, good power gain) , 3.8swap (lots of work, good power gain), Northstar swap (tons of work lots of power) factory set 4 cylinder setup, (american 4 cylinder too) lots and lots of work, minor power gain, in the end you'd probably end up happier moving to a 305. just a .02 opinion though.

Dont know if u know it, but if u do the work to get a 305 in there, dont stop, 350 is the exact same on the outside, drop in the extra 75HP with the 350, all if u were to go that route, plus there is alot of help around here to help with a v-8 swap over the I4

Wow! I can't believe people took that seriously! I'm not really considering putting an I-4 in. But on the other hand it would be kind of cool. It has a lot of similarities to the original 2.8L V6 though... I don't know how much it weights (it has to be at least as much as the 'maro), but it comes from a RWD GM vehicle, and I'm sure there is a manual tranny that bolts to it. Anyways, I'm not even considering a swap any time soon. In fact a custom supercharger is on the list higher than a swap. But it's interesting to know everyone's opinions nevertheless.
