S10 3.1 transfer
S10 3.1 transfer
Ok im 15 and this summer im planning on working and buying my friends gmc s15 with a camaro 3.1 in it. Im gonna lower it and get a paint job and some wheels and tires on it. Im gonna use it as transportation/4 wheeler hauler. Also im wondering what kinda performance upgrades i can do to this STOCK 3.1 motor. If you guys want i can get some pics posted or something and try to get things worked out
I really wanna get some hp outta this. Also um does a long bed s15 weigh more then a camaro?

Does it have just a 3.1 long block in there or does it have the hole engine with the intake and all that looks just like one in a camaro?
What I mean does it have the camaro intake, computer and fuel injection system and not the s-turck TBI injection?
Just asking becuse for a while I had a S-10 2.8L in my camaro.
To put a camaro intake on an s-10 motor you get fuel and air mixing problems and to put a TBI intake on camaro cylinder heads you would get a lot of intake restriction I would think.
To get more power out of that engine you could all ways pick up an after market cam.
One thing that would help is if you rebuilt you distributor I bet it is old and used a good aftermarket ignition coil.
A bigger of duel exhaust would help a lot, you would have lots of room to hang duel pipes compaired to camaros.

If it's the tbi set up, or even the carb, Fageol could be your best friend as far as induction upgrades. Then exhaust upgrades to take advantage. If you have teh MPFI intakes, well, welcome to teh Home Depot CAI club
I was just hoping to get around 200hp from the 140 stock (right)? It is mainly my quad hauler plus you gotta have nice stuff like a nice sound system and nice interior so i plan to change everything in there. Its a automatic and i dont really mind that but i would like to maybe get a rebuild on the motor and make it ride smoother with springs or something. Im kinda new to the s10s and the camaro motors for that matter. I hate imports so dont get that mixed up. I just wanna have a pimping truck.

It will have 140 hp only if it has the 3.1 with a MPFI camaro intake and Fuel injection, 120hp or so if it has the s-15 throttle body injection.
Do you know what it has?
