200+ hp from the 3.1...............are you loking into forced induction/nitous or just N/A?

Also, what kind of driving do you intend to do w/the car, as streetablility may come into play w/an N/A motor.

200 hp is not quite as easy as it sounds. i've done extensive work to my 3.1 and if its making 200+ hp, its not too terribly much over that number.

I think a fair goal is to achieve a ratio of 1 horsepower per cubic inch naturally aspirated. I'm aiming for 170 ponies myself, it will do for my kind of driving. Just my 2 cents. I would like to go with 3.4l swap but I dont know anyone to do swap for me.

Devian....you can do it yourself..... It's actually very easy and straightforward once the two motors are sitting beside eachother (and you have all these great folks to help you!). While it's out swap the cam and port your heads. A good cam and hedders got me into the 15's (along with other stuff of course), and my cam is rather mild.

Is everything interchangable from the 3.1 to the 3.4? I've been upgrading things 1 at a time on my 3.1 and I would like to goto a 3.4 in the future but would't want any upgrade going to waste so if there are things that I can't swap over I'd like to avoid them.

How difficult is a cam to install for someone who isn't too bright? I'm not looking for 200+ hp or anything, just more power outta my lil 6. Do you always have to do springs and lifters and all that?

For the springs it really depends o the cam profile. It's not that complicated really, getting down to it is the tricky part (avoiding breaking vaccumn lines). for a .42 lift and lower profile cam, stock springs will work (but you wont make as much power). The cam I use is slightly over that figure (.423 I , .443 E) so i swapped in some higher lift springs, retainers an locks. Higher valve seat pressure is going to allow forslightly higher rpm as well (which can mean more power too). If you were to pay a shop to swap everything for you I can't see them charging more than about 350 USD. Hope that helped.
