I just wanted to know if someone can give me a better understanding of how the engine works. what im confused on are things like cams, pistons, gas, coolant, water and air. ive been reading articles on TBI, TPI & CARBS. Things ive been reading seem to talk a lot about cams and cranks and suspension and stuff like that. But the majority talks about fuel systems and engine cooling. Im confused on the routs of these things take. I have a good understanding of the engine, but im confused on the routing in the engine that they take. for example, why is fuel consumpsion so more important than anything els? basicaly why is TBI or TPI better in performance than a CARB. where doese it burn and why does it cause the car to go faster? what rout is the coolant taking? what are the pistons doing? Is oil just a lubercant? whats in a v8 thats not in a v6 besides more cylinders? just want more understanding from the best which are you guys.

Because if the engine gets too lean, it will burn up the pistons. If it gets too rich, it can burn up the rings and blow through the seals and cause massive leaks due to too much crank case pressure.
basicaly why is TBI or TPI better in performance than a CARB.
Carb, has limitations. In alot of situations is is just not as reliable as EFI.

The air fuel? in the cumbustion chamber, in the bore of the piston hole, above the piston as it rises on compression.
what rout is the coolant taking?
Typically the coolant goes from block to pump, to radiator to block.
what are the pistons doing?
They rise and fall with the crankshaft. This causes pressure and vacuum depending on the motion.
Is oil just a lubercant?
And it also acts like a coolant to metal surfaces, it takes the fricton created, and turns it too heat.
whats in a v8 thats not in a v6 besides more cylinders?
Basically, nothing more. Same basic operation. Just more parts

when the spark plugs ignite the fuel there is an explosion of the fuel burning and that helps shove the piston down into the cylinder hence the power stroke of the 4 stroke engine
