there isnt really any muffler that is going to make a 6er sound like an 8 but if i were you go with 80 series flowmaster with dual outs... that should sound pretty good. and this will be fairly cheap... right now you can get everythign you need off of ebay for like 100$ and its a direct bolt on.

That's not going to hapen with a stock V6 engines exhaust out put.
Now if you had a bad @$$ mechanical cam, headers and a few other goodies you could sound more mean than a V8.

a v8 is going to sound a bit better in the long run due to the extra cubes and more air flow no matter what is done to the 6. gm wize the closest 6 ive ever herd sounding like a v8 was a 4.3 but i couls still tell it was a 6er.. just my thoughts on the subject.

My friend had a Dynomax super turbo catback on his 89rs and he welded on the 4th gen square z28 tips. It didnt sound exactly like a v8, but it was mean .. it was close to a v8 sound though, unexperienced ears thought it was a v8. Id recommend it to any v6er. Just leave that cat or it will get really raspy

basicly you can get a sound that will resemble a V8 down low... pretty much everyone that knows a little will be able to tell it's a 6, especially if you step on it...

If you're going to scare people with it, might as well just carry a portable air horn with you... http://media.ebaumsworld.com/index.php?e=airhornfun.wmv

I've got a flowmaster 40 with high flow cat and a guy I work with who had a 90 firebird with a 305 thought I had a 305 at least, if not 350. Most people who ask what I have ask if it's a 305 or 350.
edit: If you wanna scare people just drive towards them as they walk on the side of the road, that'll scare'em.

You know I really love my Flowmaster 80 (its been on the car since '96)... my twin may not like his, but maybe its just I haven't heard anything else... well I've heard others, but on a V8.

I realy like the vortex system I got for my car. It sounds like a V8 and when u go onto the freeway it is nice and quiet and when ur just cruzing around it has a realy nice rumble.

I still love my flowmaster sound after 2yrs+ the only thing annoying is the peice of the cat that's stuck inside and the mount being broke due to the "stainless steal" rusting like a ****.

I would be worried about the rings and valves before worrying about that little rattle from the cat

The Flowmaster 80 series was put on my car before I bought the car... and welded in place . I, in 18 months, have yet to hear the true exhaust note of the muffler (damn leaks in the front end!). I still have no opinion on the muffler, and have not heard others, so I dunno what to say on the issue, other than the fact that it definitely sounds better than the fart can my friend is considering for his V6 Dodge Daytona ...
