1200kms a week is taking its toll on my car
im commuting 106kms each day to work usually runing really hard for extended periods of time. and then again in stop and go traffic jams for exteded periods of time. the roads vary from extremly rough to smooth.
so my car kept getting the soot on the exhaust even after cleaning the injectors with desiel, the idle was getting really rough, and i still have that hesitation -not inital hesitation but a hesitation say after the car gets moving and a pop if the car is cold. if i let the car warm up its fine.so i changed the plugs -that was easy they looked fine i had changed them about 4000kms ago. nothing really bad except one had alot of oil on the threads but the electrode was good.
so i decided to take the cap and rotor off -why cant it be like my 5.0 ford witgh the distributer at the front and just have clips not screws. well the terminals were crapped up -dry but crapped up where the spark was. i scraped it off. in a week when the bosch ones go on sale ill replace it. so i bet thats why i was getting soot -not a clean spark. good. at least i improved somthing and can move on.
but the idle is still pretty rough and i do get a hesitation and a pop when i dont let the car warm up. my neighbours live reallllllly close and my car is loud because i have a exhaust leak at the head so i cant warm the car up anymore in the mornings
i also have a break line leak i just found right after i bought new dot 4 fluid and was on the way home. pedal sunk a bit lower than usual. fluid was changed about a year ago but its all muddy. i was going to do a flush as they have wayy too much pedal travel and after driving my car to work i get in a new bmw, its kinda like im used to my camaros breaks -well you get the picture i look funny and id like my car to ride like new as possible.
so what else could cause a rough idle? it doesnt really sound like its misfiring.. on my towncar its really obvious to me when it misfires. i may do a seafoam.
oh and 02 was replaced a year ago but may have fouled up after running rich with that soot coming out...
im starting to think the oil from my k&n filter may be fouling my *** air flow sensor. im thinknig about going back to paper. maybe get a can of computer circut cleaner for it

What kind of soot are we talking about? Are you leaving marks on your driveway? Or is the outer edge of the tailpipe opening getting soot on it? If it is, that's just normal Carbon, it's a product of the combustion process that you'll never get rid of.
