Hey, just curious as to if anyone would know where to get a rebuild kit for the 3.1 liter v6 out of a 1990 Camaro.

Found one a few years ago but haven't been able to find one since then.

 

Any major auto parts store Felpro makes a kit, melling makes a kit, speed pro makes a kit, Most major gasket/bearing companies for GM's make a kit.

Just ask for a rebuild kit when you take your block in for the machine work. Most any machine shop will have it. I had mine all apart last winter. Take my advice though, when you have it all torn apart kick in a few extra bucks and get the crane cam thats made for the 3.1. Its only like $140 out of Jegs. BIIIIG difference in my opinion. Ever seen a 3.1 chirp 3rd gear?


BTW- mine has a few other mods too, im not sure that just a cam will make yours chirp 3rd. its a good start though

 

which cam are you reffering to? crane makes about 8 cams for these engines... my cousing had a stock 92 3.1 camaro with a 5 speed that would chirp third. what all do you have done to your car, streetroc?

 

ask doward... we did one for his car.. but i was just the designated beer drinker during the project... which is scary cuz im a real M.F'er (master fabricator)... i think the kit was from AZ i bought the sumbitch so im pretty sure we used his 20% discount... er... the crank kit may have been from carquest...but we have good connections here in SLOcala.. so i dunno.

 

There are only 2 listed in jegs. i got the one thats for 1500-4500rpm. other than that its just minor stuff. a little mild headwork, 180* t-stat, TB coolant bypass, bumped up the fuel pressure a bit. its not really going to haul until im done with my next "project"
