tranny compatability between 82 Camaro and Chevette???

doing some reserch now for a hobby car I'm thinking about building (more like overgrown go-cart). What I want to know is if anyone knows if the Thirdgen 60-degree bellhousing patterns mate up with the Chevette's 1.6L drivetrain.

What the? No idea... are they six holes, lined up like a triangle, almost?

SHould be 3 on each side, directly in line with each other, IIRC.

a 500 will FIT in a Chevette????

in all honesty, I'd much prefer to do a V8 install, but the 6-cyl is laying around and it was just an idea to fill up some spare time with existing parts available...not much cash at hand at this point...so for now I'll have to content myself with a 6. Pity, I know...

2.8 in a chevette is cool. Though it would need to be a stick to really whoop on the street. [considering its a budget mod with used parts]

I had two HO 80 chevette. a stick and an auto. For a 1.6 they flew. Me and a friend had one at the same time and we would race down the back roads flat out. You would just get enough boost to pass each other but never get away. Just a flat out passing contest.

Basically that page is saying you can swap the tail shafts around. Use a 2.8 t5 combo and just stick the chevette tail shaft on it.

1985 Minivan
4.3 V6
3.50
2.14
1.39
1.00
0.73

1986 Minivan
4.3 V6
3.50
2.14
1.39
1.00
0.73

That is neat. 4.3 T5 mini vans. Do the opposite. Get one complete and stick the 3rg gen tail shaft on it. Easy swap for a stick car.

Things a that make you go hmmm.
