Transmission: auto and 5 spd
a 229 cubic inch v6

anyone ever heard of this?? i was wondering if so is it better than a 2.8?? any info would be awsome

well if its 229ci then its obviously better then the 2.8 (which is 173 ci)

i'd say its not a 60* v6 and its gonna take some work to get it in

I believe he's right thats a 90* engine. But then again anything is better than a 2.8. lol. Not that i can say any better i got a 3.1.

Transmission: 700r4....not stock either
Axle/Gears: 3.73
i bet that's a 3.8, right? the 3.8 is a 90 degree V6 so it wouldn't be very easy to install.

There are 2 early 3.8L motors.

229 = Buick 3.8L
231 = Chevy 3.8L (Series I)

Got it backwards Doward ol' buddy I used to have a 229 in my monte'. It's a Chevy motor, the 231 is the Buick one (GN motor).

The 229 is called a 3.8
It is 3/4th's of a 305 Chevy
when it came out it was too dirty to bring into Ca. until they put on F.I. then they made it 4.3 262 cu.in.'s (3/4th's of a 350)
