Update on Idle probs

Yet again I have attempted to discover what is causing my Idle problems. I have discovered a new thing to help lead me in the right direction (takes out notebook...). With the EST connector off, the "bump" in the idle disappears... It still acts like it has a VERY slight miss (probably due to and injector or crossed wires, which there are many). Now, since the problem started, I have been unable to get my scanner to register timing advance (the timing is advancing though, I verified with a timing light several times). The timng number simply registers as '0', and doesn't change. Previously, when I first swapped the cam, and before that when I had to replace a "broken" ECM, it was registering like it's supposed to. I had to replace the PROM with an Old one out of a used ECM as well (I touched it and shorted it out apparently). Thing is, the PROM just kept the car from startng all together when it failed. It wouldn't flash a code, the Check engine light was just out. Now, I have tried two diferent ECM's, both have same results. .............
Ok master mechanics , Any NEW ideas?

When my computer failed the first time (no start, fuel pump no engage), I went junkyard hunting. Just had to swap in my prom and go. But it only lasted a year. So when the junkyard one died, can't remember what happened when it failed, but anyway...this 2nd time, I figured I would spend the bucks on a new "Autozone" one.

Sooo, when I replaced it this 2nd time, I was still having issues. I had the No "check engine" light. So I figured it was the prom failing, maybe I touched it wrong or something. Got a new one from GM. Now when I swapped the prom I figured all would be fine. I still had the same prob.

Turned out I swapped the computer w/o the other chip. There is a second chip that goes in the computer that has to be there for the ECM to work right. The new computer did not come with it.Can't remember the blasted name of it! I goofed and did not put teh other chip and that turned out to be my problem.
