This looks really cool, too bad its for a v8...but I'm sure with different headers it would work on a v6. Check it out










I think it's a kicka$$ design, let me knwo what u think.

from what i hear, a single turbo is often better than twin turbos. i don't know a lot about turbos but that's what i hear. that does look cool though.

Non intercooled.

That's my only beef with it.

omfg I take that back... what's with the only wastegating from ONE cylinder??? what the hell?

Bad enough, but a 90º angle off the one? NEVER take a 90º for your wastegate - fluid dynamics, people!

What are those, T4 turbos? The exhaust housing looks a might big, vs the compressor housing, that looks a wee bit small. No where near equal length headers.

All in all, looks nice, but no real planning/engineering seems to have gone into it!!!

The stepped design coming out of the turbos, while a good idea, was approached from the wrong angle. A smooth transition from the (seemingly) 3" to the 2.5" would have been MUCH better. Even a short conical section!!

Christ, I gotta quit looking at this - no brackets holding that turbo/downpipe up? With what, 1/4" flanges on teh headers? I'd seriously beef up the support system there.

The oil plumbing, on the other hand, does look top notch!

I think Doward summed it up best.

Basically, as pretty as it looks, there's parts of my crappy prototype system are of similar or better design (he's got me on construction for now, but someone didn't do their homework). :P

I wouldn't bolt that onto one of my cars without at least some thicker flanges, mounting brackets, and solving that single cylinder wastegate.

Honestly, I didn't mean to. I quickly looked at it, it was ll nice and mandrel bent, and I was like - NO INTERCOOLER??? Then when I took a second look, all sorts of stuff kept jumping out at me.

HAHA, Yea, I just glanced at it really quick and thougth the mandrel bending looked really good. Looking at it further tho, i definately agree with Doward, the lack of an intercooler sux!!

Ya seen that new sorta inter cooler for a turbo. Made for a low space turbo. Kind of like a system with two small trans cooler size radiators. One is sealed in an aluminum housing that air flows through. the other mounts near the air dam for cooling. It has a pump, a motor and a reservoir. It just pumps its own coolant through the system. Pretty neat. Not sure how well it works though.

I wonder if the 5-9 psi that's making will be enough to make power without too much detonation.... But it is pretty.

I think this statement is very arguable....


So you are saying it would be better to tie it in at a steep angle, thus leaving a knive-edge for the exhaust gases to hit? It is a well-known fact that moving gases (especially in intake manifold porting) do not like to hit a sharp edge, it breaks up smooth flow, and creates turbulence. I think the Ideal way to tie in a wastegate is to weld the flange directly to the tube, if possible.

There are 2 WG's, but if you look at the bottom photo you will see that the WG is only plumbed to one header tube.

Gumby, I wouldn't say that... it looks very good, yes, but in reality - it isn't engineered well at all. I think I have some room of experience to say that.

The best way to have a wastegate come off, is at a shallow of an angle as possible. 90º is as bad as you can get, short of somehow trying to make the exhaust move BACKWARD up the WG tube!

And only coming off of 1 cylinder is simply inexcusable. The wastegate should be after the collector for the primaries.

don't mean to sound anti-V6 or anything, but he's got MOST of us beat on base power + he's got a turbo..2 of them. I would jizz all over myself if someone gave me that for my car. I could get better, but what the hell, it's still better than what i have now...lol

Just in case any of you have never seen this 72 Dastun 510 that had a twin turbo 2.8L Chev 60*V6 in it.
And it hauled ***.

Its about 2/3rds the way down the link page, The white one with the flared fenders.

i remeber looking at that site a few years ago and it is one of the very fee realllllly built 60* v6's

and that site hasnt worked for me in about a year as well.

Depends... personally, I think he won't be able to control the boost. So unless the engine is built to run 30+psi, I'll win - he'll blow up mid track

Wastegate is a device to control the speed of a turbo's turbine - vents exhaust gases around the turbine, to keep the turbo from spinning faster (and building more boost)

The WG coming off one cylinder is a design that has been used on a few cars. I think the BBS turbo system is the same way.

This is pressure...not necessarily only flow. Even though its off one cylinder, that tube ties into the rest of the cylinders at the collector. Its not as good as it could be true, but it works just fine.

Blow up a latex glove and tie the end off. Even if you make a hole in the little pinky finger, pressure is still going to be relieved because it connects to the rest of the glove through the palm (collector)

Vents from the collector. The glove analogy won't work - imagine trying to do that, with air flow at a tremendous rate, through the fingers.. the 'collector' would still get blown up!
