msd coil problem

msd coil problem
hey this is my first post but have been around for a while i have a 84 2.8 camaro sport coupe and i recently bought a msd blaster stock replacment coil and when i went to put it in the other day the plugs on my stock one were completely different it seemed.is this cause mine is carbed or what? also what one do i need to get to do this upgrade

very well could be because your a carb engine. Honestly, most the information on this board is for the injected engines.
Where-ever you got it from should have a proper listing for that car. Or an easy conversion one should beable to be done.

Welcome to the forum! Isn't your spark coil in the distributor cap? Check out http://www.msdignition.com for the part # you'd need; MSD makes a spark coil for the coil-in-cap style. It hooks up with two wires.

MSD # 8225, $75. (WOW.. were these models always so expensive? Jegs has the same price!)
If you want a cheaper priced coil, looks like Accel's #140003 is $50.

thanks tomp but unfurtunatly mine is not in the cap it is mounted just below the air managment valve on the passenger side of the engine. the msd coil has the female end of the plug on it were as the stock one has more of male end on it. im going to also try to get some info from msd on the topic.

No kidding! I thought the 82-84's were coil in cap- but I never actually looked!
