listen i do a 1/8th in 10.5 seconds roughly. that is accounting for the reaction time of the run i did at 10.8 last weekend(.947rt) i can pull 80 in 3rd gear. i was just hitting the end of 3rd at the end of a 1/8th mile. first redlines at 30, second redlines at 60, and third redlines at 84, fourth redlines at around 125 and fifth takes a while to get to 160, but drafting someone helps out alot in getting up to those speeds. the car will rev easily to 5,000 but after that it strugles to get enough fuel to push it any faster, that is where the problem lies with my car. i eithor need someone to allow me to draft them to that speed or i need a good hill or a decent tailwind

most of these v-6 rnt able to light them up. some might get a squeak but thats about it. if its fairly modified then maybe or a worn out set of crappy tires. my car will not light em up but will snap my head back if i mash the gas. if someone say they can light it up stock they r bsin or on wet pavement or on worn out tires. these do not have the torque to light em up. or they could be powerbraking it to spin em.

negative there bud,
i can light them up just about any time i want. all i got to do is hit the clutch and rev it up a little and dump the clutch. noone ever really did any performance work to this car before i got it, try putting spring clamps on the rear and raising them up til they can't go any more(about 2 1/2") and i would be willing to bet that you could light them up.
i had no problem at the track and i haven't ever had any problem lighting them up when i want to. in a auto maybe, but not in a manual. i got 245's on the rear and they are almost still brand new. they are a offshoot of kelley chargers. there is no doubt that they are good tires.

dropping the clutch doesn't count bro.... can you effortlessly burn the tires without dropping the clutch?
I can hardly squeak the tires while powerbraking... since I have new drums in the rear... even so, it's always been a huge struggle to powerbrake... like I'm overcoming some impossible obsticle.
if I had a 2500rpm stall torque converter, I may be able to squeak a bit more.

i can around a turn, and sometimes while just barely going and then hammering the throttle, unless i am on paint, then they go crazy and both tires lock and spin spewing smoke everywhere!

an auto from a dead stop can not light up their tires under normal conditions. i can squeak them go through a turn and punching it too. thats not lighting them up. dumping the clutch at high rpm is the same as powerbraking an auto. and if ur car can hit 160mph then there has obviously been some performance mods done as the factory top speed is about 135

if I dog it on a turn I can usually get some good rubber... unless it's a good road, then I just get traction and look like a moron.
I always buy Firestone Firehawk SS20's and now the Indy 500's... if that makes any difference...
people that can burn out probably either have cheap tires, or they are simply worn out.

i don't have to rev it up to really high rpm's before i dump the clutch, only about 2,000 and i smoke the heck out of the tires.
as for the "factory" top speed, there is something that was done at the factory that makes it like no other camaro of that model year. i have no idea as to why though. some of the factory parts on the build sheet weren't even supposed to go to camaro's but i got them from the factory. it really wouldn't surprise me if they geared the tranny from the factory for better gears

eh, I just don't see what gears they could change out to give you any performance up to that level...
how long did it take for you to get that high, and how well did the front end hold out?

I can't say that I'd ever find a place to get up as fast as 87 is claiming... but at around 120 with the t-tops off, going down hill, my car was suprisingly gentle.
