Need help with Performance Y-Pipes

Since the only Headers available for the 3.1 are not smog legal...Will having an exhaust shop fabricate a performance Y-Pipe be worth it? Big Gains? Smog Legal? Any fittings or sensors in them? Ground clearance problems? This will connect to a high flow cat and a catback system.

I was thinking of buying this

What does "enters in to 3 inch collector"? Does that mean the inlet size of the cat needs to be 3 inchs? Is that y pipe smog legal? Will that fit in to stock exhaust manifolds?

The best source for these questions...Try asking MAC yourself. Even the description on their stie doesn't have any more information than Hawk's. Make sure you mention you have a V6. Let us know what they say.

For What Its Worth, I picked up my Y-pipe from a local "real" auto parts store (not a Pep Boys) back in 1996 for $180. It was mandrel bent, made by AP. Any "real" auto parts store should be able to dig one up for ya.

Redraif had a muffler shop fab hers up (for PF &E headers) out of mandrel bends, and add the bungs for the stock O2 and a wideband O2 for tuning.
