Fuel Injector ???
Fuel Injector ???
I have a '86 Camaro 2.8L with the Bosch type Injector. It has the brown pintle cap on the bottom. Not the Multitec flat bottom. Does the top (the ridge) where the lock down goes, is it a complete circle or does it have 2 halves. I have to replace 1 and the guy says he needs to know. I can't see it on the car...

IIRC they are a complete circle (been a year since I've seen my original fuel injectors.. I've got a 3.1 now). If I were you, I would just go ahead and get a set of MultiTecs.. they are supposed to be mechanically more reliable.
Thanks for the answer, but Multitecs are garbage. Both injector repairers said don't waste your time & money. The Bosch ones are much better. The injector didn't break on it's own, I did it. I have a complete set of Multitecs and they told me they don't want them on a trade-in...

Well, if that's the case, take all of your fuel injectors and ship them off to Linder Technical Services. They can sell you a full set of Bosch injectors that have a LIFETIME WARRANTY and will take your old ones in a trade as rebuildable cores for resale...

Couldn't tell ya how bad either is. My 2.8 was crap when I bought the car, and four out of six Multitecs on my 3.1 were crap, but I would assume thats from being in a junkyard. Otherwise, I couldn't tell you which are worse.
I've heard the Multitecs are better, and now I've heard that the old style ones are better. I dunno...

Issue with the Multecs is that the insulation on the wire used for the windings breaks down. Once this starts the injectors will intermittently short out. Then progress to the point of shorting where the engine ceases to run. This can also take out the injector driver in the ECM.

Update...received the injector from Linder in 2 days (I'm still waiting for 3 weeks for cruzinperformance to back to me), I know that TomP mentions them, but Linder are pros, I think cruzen works out of his gargage...Anyway the injector worked fine!
