does anyone know if the 5 speed tranny from a 2.8 s-10 will fit in an f-body. (i'm assuming i'll have to change the shifter, i'm just wondering about the tranny itself)

both are T-5's so i don't see why not as long as you change the bell housing, but you might be able to even use the bell housing too....

No they wont, shifter location is in wrong hole.
Flywheel is different
clutch is different
slave ram is different.
Actually, onlything that is the same is the main box, and internal guts (minus main shaft).

Dale is correct - if you look on our tranny, the shifter is back at the very very end. The S10 shifter is right behind the main case.
The flywheels are the same, though. Beck Arnley p/n - 0656013
It's the same as the Fbodies, too - you have the older 2 piece rear main, externally weighted, and the 1 piece internally balanced pieces.
The s10 clutch is 230mm
The Fbody clutch is 232mm
That's why the difference in part numbers. Both are 1" hub, 14spline, 9 1/8" diameter clutches.
The clutch hydraulics, you can, IIRC, interchange. But I recommend you use the FBody setup, as it will bolt up easiest.
S10 MS - 11/16" Bore
FB MS - 3/4" Bore
S10 SS - 13/16" Bore
FB SS - 1" bore
Anywho, that's a little more info for the boards

also, from what i remember when i was looking for a new tranny, the 3rd gen t-5 is bolted at an angle, the s-10 is bolted straight up and down, i think that makes sense.
