Key cylinder install...in case

Is it hard to install another key lock cyliner just in case that is the problem with the no start? I get a code 46, jumpered the starter enable relay, turned over but no crank. Meter showed .68 resistance on key pellet and .714 or so on the VATS connector coming from the column with the key in the ignition. How hard to replace key lock cylinder? Any things to look after the steering wheel has been removed?

it's pretty easy , but yougotta use thespecial tool. take your time. I didn'thaveany wires to deal w/when I did mine, but the manual helped out w/the I.P.B. when I had to take a break & then put it back together.

I don't have VATS, but my key cylinder died (wouldn't turn anymore!)... I had the steering wheel puller, it was a cake job. One thing I'd say to do while you're in there is to change the turn-signal-cancel-springs. You could change the cam too but the little springs are the things that take the abuse. They're only about $1/each from the dealer.

I changed the cam too but I really didn't need to... the old cam was in great shape so I just kept it- damned if I know where I put it now, though.

The blinker switch is a pain too, the cords are short.

Oh- I found my old message, with some pics, it may help: https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=162390

[edit] OK so after re-reading that old message of mine, I guess it wasn't a cake job. Now I remember, my biggest fight was that snap ring. The pick set I have is a cheapie from Home Depot, I think they were made by Stanley and cost $5.
