Car Starts Then Stops

I DRIVE A 1990 CAMARO RS V6 3.1 AND IT STARTS THEN STOPS UNLESS I KEEP MY FOOT ON THE GAS I CHECKED THE ALTERNATER LIKE MY MANUALE SAID IT STILL DOES IT.I JUST GOT MY LEARNERS PERMIT AND WOULD LIKE TO DRIVE MY CAR, ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRITIATED.

I kinda had a problem like that a while ago... It stopped doing it so I never bothered to check to see what it was. A couple of guys said it might be the IAC (Idle Air Control) so check that.... Check mine while you're at it...

I know this is probably the most generic answer you could get but my car started doing the same thing a while back and i checked all the vacume lines like they all say to and shure enough had a cracked one replaced it and the car has yet to do it again. Its not that hard to imagine that considering that nearly EVERYTHING on these cars is controled by the vacuum(is that how you spell that?) lines including the IAC so if there is a vac leak it won't work right if at all. Also you dont have to type in all caps to get attention.

thanks it worked

I took out the iac valve and cleaned and it started right up thanks you have helped me greatly all my vacume hoses have been replaced within the last few months so i knew it wasn't that and sorry about the caps
