setting rev limiter

Is there any way to move the rev limiter up like another 500rpm's? I used to be able to rev mine right up past 7K but now it limits at 6K. I dont want it to go past 7K now that I know the internals cant hanlde it but I dont want it to cut out at 6K. I was thinking 6500 should be good. And before you ask why would I do this Ill give you reasons. I got a turbo going on soon and Im gonna be getting a higher rpm cam to match it a little better and I know that the power band is gonna shift up so I want more rpm to go through. Thanks

You used to be able to do it, but now you can't? The rev limiter is built into the ECM, IIRC, there's no way to change it without a new chip, plus the fact that I don't think an 86 has a rev limiter built in. If you used to be able to do it, but now you can't I would start looking at the ICM or possibly the Pickup coil as possible problems as to why you aren't getting an ignition pulse signal up that high in the RPM range.

my 85 will go to 6500 and start bouncing back to 6000 and that is with every thing stock and working good and with two different ECUs one a good junk yard one and the current one a new remaned one.
