coolant still leaking.. :'(
ok so the overheating problem which i thought was a head gasket might not be. the oil is not milky and white smoke isnt coming out the back right now. but i just replaced the waterpump and the car is still pretty steadily leaking coolant. you can see it dripping from underneath. the leak seems to be coming from the crank right where the timing marker is.... any ideas guys?

probably leaking from the timing cover. when you pull the waterpump, you can break the seal on the timing cover and that will leak coolant as well. coolant flows from the block, through the cover and to the waterpump. so you may have to redo everything you did and more to replace the timing cover gasket. bet thing to do is get a pressure tester and find out for sure where its leaking from. but from what you describe, thats what my guess would be.

the leak SEEMS to be coming from here... and the water drips down and falls to the ground from the oil pan... do i need to just replace the gasket or the cover and all?

take the pulley off the waterpump and see if its leaking from the weephole of the waterpump. if it is, you need a new waterpump. judging by the pic, that would be a possibility as well.

Can it be from that metel piece that goes into the throttle body where the coolant goes in?

ok find out where the leak is coming from. and it was leaking when the car was off too, when the coolant was full. its coming from directly to the left of the waterpump. there are like two big holes. and its leaking from the top one... is the the timing cover gasket?

Kevo2k6,
Sorry for thread jacking, but the engine in the picture is a 1990 3.1 V6? If so, can you post more pics of how you routed your belts and anything else you had to change to eliminate the smog and AC pulleys. Also, what type of belt is that, and size/part # if possible.
Thanks very much if you can get to that,
Max

Alright, thanks anyway.
I did some looking in an an old chiltons that I found,(it has a BIG troubleshooting section) and they they say it was probably the timing cover as well.
Thanks,
Max
