Hey, recently i was just kinda playing with some ideas in my mind. I have seen CAIs that go beneath the front fender, but I was wondering if it would be possible to have like a dual intake, similar to the camaros, but using the cut-outs where the fog lights are. Obviously a camaro wouldnt benefit, just an idea I came up with, how does it sound? I am planning on building one here in a few weeks, I thought it might be kinda cool to actually try, I think water may be an issue with the opening that open to the outside

 

Ya you live in Florida, (not sure where, but if the rain is at all like the rain here in Broward, you'll need some kind of plumbing to prevent water from breaking your motor.)

You can't use the dual snorkels straight from a camaro, a firebirds "tool tray" is too short and it'll interfere with the hood. I just happen to have an almost complete dual snorkel setup out of an 87 camaro I'd let go for a token amount and shipping if you want something to start with. I could see modifying it to fit.

I assume you mean the yellow lights on the front side that are between the headlights? What about your turn signals?

 

One of the current or past sponsers had made ducting that went from the foglight area, and blew it up to the dual snorkle area.

Now if your talking running plubing/pvc from down there, around to the fenders, then up n back over the TB, thats just WAY to much bends and air travel. I dont think you'll notice a thing.

As said above, depending on the drainage of the streets, you gotta watch for water. I HAVE hydro locked mine up with the stock dual snorkle . These cars dont like going thru water, there not boats.

 

tru, i found that out when i was doing 30 throught 8 inch puddles to school, the entire road there was flooded, i wondered why my carpet was pushing my feet up a half inch, look down, oh noes, water!!!! that place floods often, my school is at the end of this http://www.oceancountyaerialpictures...ndy%20Hook.jpg ...any way, your better off simply eliminating that stupid box between the MAF and TB, unless you want that *cool* factor

Yea, it sucked water up the dual snorkle.

I was going to go thru the puddle of water like everyone else. But they were all sedans n trucks. I forgot I was in a lowered sports car

 

You might want to get under the car and take a good look at the front end before you start cutting. Because between the reinforcements, impact barriers, bumper supports, etc there isn't much room for anything anywhere near the foglights.

Secondly you won't see much if any improvement from a cold air intake, it'll just make the intake noise louder and introduce new concerns such as picking up water in the engine.

 

Ya, I actually went out Easter Mornin to check a vacuum leak and looked to see if that idea seemed plausible. Now that I actually checked there is very little room and I think you guys are right that there wont be any real improvement over a regular CAI, plus the added work of plumbing.
