'86 Firebird will not run

Some background: 86 2.8 MPFI, compression 120 to 150 psi, spark at all plugs, timing verified at 10 BTDC, fuel pressure 35 - 40 psi, fuel flow 1/2 pint+ in 15 sec, voltage verified on hot side of injector harness, cranks well and will start once or twice but will not run with key released, code 34 showing on ALDL query.
Engine will start and run smoothly if fuel is atomizeded into the throtle body while cranking. Is there a reliable way to check the injectors without noid lights or a scan tool?

what is the fuel pressure dropping to when you crank?

fp should be about 45 at idle, code 34 is MAF sensor, unplug it and try running the car

Key on pressure 36 psi, rises to 40 psi while cranking.

ok, then your injectors....... aren't

gives me chance to sneek a peek at the 85 service manual to see the circuit diagram (shouldn't be that different)

You said "...cranks well and will start once or twice but will not run with key released." Could this be an ignition switch problem?

Engine will run with key released if fuel is sprayed into the throtle opening.

You aren't getting fuel. Do a quick ohm test on all 6 injectors.
