What kind of price can i get for this ?
Ok...i got a 1991 camaro rs in a trade 2 days ago...it has a 3.1 V-6 with a 5 speed tranny.....now i have no use at all for either so i'd like to sell them together.....the guy i got it from said all it needed was a computer and it would be a running car....he said if i took the hose off of the intake and squirted a little gasin it , it would fire right up with no prollems.....i have no clue as if this is the original engine or anything...any help would be greatly appreciated

well for one, these types of questions are really junk ones.
The car is worth whatever a person will pay for it. Plain and simple.
Now considering it is a 3.1, not running and you did not post the mileage or body or interior condition... maybe 1000. And that is being generous as I am considering that the interior and body are perfect.
I recently saw a non running 350TPI car sell for $500, and it was in great shape minus the non running condition.

3 years ago I paid 400 for mine with no breaks, and bad tranny(no 3 or 4). Spent 3 hours in his side yard making it run to scaringly drive it home.
But yes, need info on rest of the condition of the car, and where your located.

Sorry...i meant just for the motor and tranny...the car i am switching some parts off of it...so i would just want to get rid of the motor and tranny...i live in Hattiesburg,Ms....my other 91 has a carbed 350 with a 5 speed so the V6 and 5 speed is of no use to me at all.

*raises eye brow*
T5 in hattiesburg?? Hum
Best bet would be finding someone who wants to upgrade there 2.8 in the old box s10's, and sell them the engine.

Parts given to you?? Damn, why cant I get so lucky
I paid 150 or 175 for my t5 to get to my door step.
Anyway, I'll be willing to take the v6-t5 stuff off your hands if the price is reasonable. I'd like the tq-arm mount to if you dont mind.
Does it have a flat hood you would want to get rid of either

LOL... if not, Dale, I'll GIVE you my T5 for the price of shipping, considering it does have one broken tab where it bolts to the bellhousing. Shifts beautiful, it had like 60k miles on it when I got it, and I've put like 10-12k more on it... pretty hard miles, too ,and it's holding like a champ

The tab is why I want this one. Mine got broke in shipping, AGAIN. So I said f-it and installed it. I needed the car to move. Found out later one of the shifter bolt holes is partly stripped.
I have another case, but they want about 250-300 to rebuild the damn thing. I dont have the tools or that high-tech of knowledge to rebuild it myself.
Still need my 3.42 and LSD installed too. :sigh:

trannies are not hard...
I was scared of them till today when I finally got fed up with this clown that swore he would do some work for me. Swap input shafts... as the good one has brand new under 300 miles with kevlar bands.
Now keep in mind I have NEVER worked on a tranny before in my life. I took the old one apart very slowly keeping notes. Got to the new one, and had that joker apart in no time.
Went to reassemble, and yeah parts were a pain but once you figure out how to move the things to get it to go the way you want to... it was a snap.
I had both torn down, and good one back togeather in 3 - 3 1/2 hours. No joke.
Took it to another shop and had them test everything and it was all good.
And of course I took the drums apart to check the bands on the "old" tranny... no visable wear at all...
So I might have done this all for nothing... granted they were probly factory replacements and not the kevlar... but still... just makes me
from what I have seen, manuals are ALOT simpler.

Dale, no lie, if you've got the mechanical ability to rebuild a motor, you can rebuild a stick shift tranny. It's nothing but bearings/synchros/seals

Now that I have worked on this auto I am like... HA bring it on tranny (automotive) I got your *colorful adjective* right here...
Your my biatch, not get out there and get my money!
But seriously, once you actually get over the fear, and start slow with a manual beside you... it's nothing at all. Like I tell all people, just go slow and take things in steps.

As far as the actual rebuild, the main thing you are replacing is seals and synro's (on a manual). You should not have to mess with the gears at all. Just removing snap rings, and sliding the shaft assembly where you need to to remove other things.

what about bearings? Them are press on/off right?
I have a t5 taken apart in my storage unit, but a shop took it apart and told me the input and mainshaft are toast. Rest I guess is fine.
Thought about trying to put some s10 guts in a camaro case
