Kill switch

I want to stick a kill switch on my camaro, I was thinking under the ash tray. I was thinking of splicing into the neutral safety lockout. Is that on the shifter or in the trans, and what color? Thanks

I have that setup, on my car its a purple wire in the wire harness on the shifter. Spliced the wires and ran the switch through a relay that closes when the defroster is on!

that's so sneaky, I love it lol. You have inspired me to try to be a bit more creative. Now to brainstorm

Edit-
How about this- If you aren't wearing your seatbelt, the car wont start. I dont't think a potential thief, crouched under the dash to access the ignition wires, will have his seatbelt on When I took my car apart, I noticed that the drivers seatbelt had an electical connection on it. What was the purpose of that connection, and can I uses it to implement this idea?

Edit- I was impatient, so I got out my multimeter and ripped it apart. The electrical connection is a seatlbelt buzzer of sorts... grounded when the sealtbelt is not worn, and disconnected when worn. I can get the switch to work with a simple relay. Do you think the switch can handle the relay current? Also, are there any power sources active only when cranking which I can use to power my relay?

I used the defroster because you can only turn it on when the ignition is turned, and I was afraid of the relay current taking away juice from the defroster so I installed a momentary switch in series with the relay coil. So when I get in the car I turn the ignition turn on the defroster then hold in the hidden momentary switch and turn the key!! The seatbelt idea is good, I wish I would have put more thought into it.

for all future reference, the pink wire with a black stripe is an ignition switched power source that is not interrupted when starting. It supplies an ignition switched signal to the cruise control, and defroster.

how about if you make a switch using the ciggarette lighter since its hidden inside of the ashtray (at least for me) and using a relay to put it on the coil so there is no spark to the sparkplugs. or is cutting the power to the coil bad??

I thought about killing the power to the coil, but my mechanic told me not to. I don't see a problem if your using a good relay.

Do all camaros use the same seatbelt setup? With the wiring and all, I want to install another kill switch like Toehead. This way my dad will be forced to buckle up!
