new engine time
well the 2.8 in the rs is ****ed actually all it needs is a new crankshaft, but instead of getting a new crank,im getting a fresh 3.1 (20,000 miles) this weekend that im going to replace the 2.8 with.now i just gota order up a set of custom forged pistions for the 3.1 like i did for the 2.8

isnt the 3.1 the same bore as the mighty 2.8? why not swap the pistons out of the 2.8 into the 3.1?
or better yet, wait on the 3.1 and find yourself the 3.4...ross makes a set of forged pistons for that bore

yeah but,the stroke is longer so the pistions are diff the 2.8 pistions will give to high a compression ratio, and thats if they dont pop out the top of the bore

Well from what Ive learned, the 3.1 crank and 2.8 pistons will make it so the pistons pop out of the block.. My .040 over pistons might be forged, Ill go look into it right now, and if they are Ill let you know where I got them from..

TRW makes forged pistons for the 2.8 as well..
