sudden stalling.
it just started doing this today and i cant figure out what it is, Runs perfect no sputtering, missing, or loss of power but twice today it has just shut off with no warning. What could cause this? I get no ses light or code im lost as to what it could be.
I would like to get this fixed before tomorrow cause the local club is having a meet.

i just went threw this.
#1 check all plug/coil wire and make sure there all cliped on good
#2 check the conector/wires from coil to dizzy <was my problem .Wires were broken inside the insulation>
#3 check the other plug in the base of the dizzy
#4 pickup coil could be going bad
#5 icm could be going
#6 coil itself
#7 last but not least when the car dies probe the 12 volt power lead to the coil with a test light to see if the coil is lossing power

damnit wouldnt ya know it the one time i need that damn light to work it is burn out! I went out to check the codes again and the light wont flash or nothin. car starts and runs just as smooth as ever no hint of a hickup or anything. could this be a mostly plugged injector starting to fully fail causing the ECU to flood out the rest of the engine? I have one that is ticking REALLY loudly.

also if u los epower to the ecm it will do the same.same thing if u have an ignition switch going bad.
it took me 2.5 weeks to figure out what was wrong with mine, because it wouldnt throw any codes and had the same symptoms.

Oops forgot some important info! when it does this all the indicator lights and all that plus the starter work immediatly but it takes a while to get the car to start again.
the first time it happend i was in a parking lot and i was just siting there and it just shut off so i let it set for a bit. the key was on the whole time everything was working and my gauges run off the ignition circuit so if its bad they wouldnt work. but anyway i tryed to start it after about 2-3 minutes and i had to crank it forever and have my foot in the gas to get it to start, but once it did it had no more problems.
Second time i was driveing through town at about 30ish just after a stoplight race with a old monty and it just died again no warning just dead. so i put it in neutral and tryed to start it again took me about half a block of cranking for it to start again. After that i got it home as soon as i could and i have not had amy more reoccurences.
Edit: after rereading my own post about 10 times i have begun to think that it sounds a lot like how my car reacted to having the ecu connected it would crank and everything would work fine it just wouldnt run plug in the ecu and it starts with no problem. so mabe your right something with the ECU power. any ideas as to what would cause intermittent power los to the ECU? its not a crank till it starts to cough and slowly spin up it just starts instantly like it normally does. hmm..

no no smell of gas. that makes me think of the ECU as well. damn i hate it when problems happen at night.
Edit: Extention cord+ Shop light and a few minutes later i have checked all the connections you mentioned exept for the ECU power wires in the engine bay and they are all pluged in correctly, coil is new, no disconnected wires under dash, ecu is pluged in, and all sensors are pluged in.
If the tach wire is kinda F'ed up would the ECU shut off the engine if it lost tach reading?

well i have my tach patched into it using one of those snap on connectors mabe that has damaged the wire to where the ECU cant read it sometimes(dont seem likely to me cause if that were the case it wouldnt run at all). the tach reads fine tho.
hahaha thats exactly what i did,the wire i had it cliped to was causing all the problems, once i unhooked my aftermarket tach and replaces that wire my stalling problem went away
