180-200Hp without turbo or NOS

Hi there
Is it possible to get 180-200hp without turbos or nos on a 2.8.I'm looking to get v8 performace without an engine change. As these engines are quite low compression ratio has anyone skimmed the heads to increase this,if so how much and did it work.

Yeah, I prefer Nitrous eXpress anyway, NOS seems to be behind in advancements.

shaving the heads isn't the brightest idea, they amke up the landing between the block and intake manifold- so if you shave them, you'll have a gap and a bad vaccum leak. You can get aftermarket pistons, prolly cost about 500-800 bux or so, that'll bump the compression up for you. GM has been able to get like 300 hp out of the 2.8L in N/A trim...how they did it, I dunno.

I believe the common practice is to machine the intake as well.

u can mill the heads, but u have to have the manifold milled as well.cast pistions are cheap and imo are a better option.compression will only help so much,u need to have the heads ported.
ported heads,10.0-1 cr,decent cam/w high ratio rockers, headers and a catback should get u right were u want to be,though to get the most out of the mods u will need to get a custom chip burned for ur mods.also if u want to go faster wieght reductions help big time in heavy cars with low power engine, more then in a car that has a more powerfull engine upto a point

Or if you want to get crazy, 13.0:1 compression, ported heads, oversized intake valves, deshrouded exhaust valve landings, lumpy cam, and bikirom utilizing 104 octane or so.

Thanks guys
Didnt really think about new pistons, but I'm stripping out the engine soon as its got a bottom end knock, where could I get these cast pistons to raise the compression ratio and any idea how much they cost.
