Can you remove gauges from 91 cluster?

I had gotten a used cluster form a 91 Camaro. Unfortunately, it happened to come out of a V8 whereas I got a V6. I know the tach and oil pressure will be off if I change nothing. Can I remove the old tach and oil gauges out of my old cluster and put in the other cluster? Theres got to be a simple way. You would think that pulling the tach needle off and re-positioning it back on the gauge would work but I don't think so. Anyone got any ideas?

Ken

For the oil pressure I believe that you can just by the sending unit, its easy enough to replace. Someone who knows the part number can chime in for ya.

I think I've found a solution!!! I got to studying the cluster as a whole. If you remove the clear lens up front and the the black "face" that surrounds the gauges, you can see how everything is put together. NOTICE in the right bottom corner of the cluster as it faces you. There lies the circuitry for the tachometer. Most things that are put together can be taken apart. I did electronics as a hobby for a few years and know that if something ever gave out, you got to have an easy way of replacing it. This circuitry pulls out clean and easy. I bet GM kept the clusters the same on a V6 and V8 cluster when it comes to the 110 speedo setup except they used different circuits for the difference between the V6 and V8 tach signals. Why change the whole layout when you can can just one thing. Makes sense when it comes to mass production. I believe all I have to do is pull the circuitry for the tach in my V6 and place it in the V8 cluster. The GM shop manual has the same pinouts on both V6 and V8 clusters. There is no other reference in the manual that says they are different. I'll let you know how it goes.

I actually have a same thing.
my car is a v6 and during a overlay installation
i screwed up my temp meters and volt meter and oil meter..(yeah..)

since i couldnt find a 90-92 v6 cluster,
I just put in a v8 110mph cluster on mine.

you're right on the tach part, but I dont think it gives out different oil pressure though?
my oil reading hasnt changed,
the only difference is that my old one had 0-80psi reading(which nobody never even seen of?)
and my new v8 one has reading of up to 60psi.
but my reading hasnt changed so I think all I wanna fix is my tach.

let us know how it goes!

i believe, at least the 90-92 3.1L version of v6 camaro
has 110 speedo.
not sure about the 82-89 though.

Well they did keep the cluster the same. The only difference in the car was what ya wanted. V6 or V8? The interior stayed kinda the same, but the 110 speedos in a V8 were identical to the V6 for 90-92. Once again, the tach and oil was the only difference. I think cooltc is right though, all you have to do is get a oil pressure sending unit for a V8 and hook it up. I don't know if they are the same as the V8s.
